Ikke kun artikel / Not just the article
My nephew (20 years) is a soldier in the Royal Guard. He just started standing guard at the queens castle, Amalienborg, a few weeks ago, and even though he very firmly denied ever telling when we would be able to find him there, he still send me a text when it got close.....
So today - in the middle of my supposedly busy article-writing - I took the metro to the centre of town and found the courtyard of the castle. I was really excited, waiting for them to show op, but saw the trouble once they were there. How on earth would I be able to spot him?
The solution was to follow the guards walking around the courtyard to release those standing on guard since the day before (they take 2-hour shifts). Half the new soldiers did this, and I figured there would be some chance to find him using this method......
So after staring intensely at most of the poor, young people, I did find him!
And just look at this! So many people wanted to have their pictures taken with him. (But he sure is a darling, you know!)
And here he is. Trying to look like he has no clue who I am. Or like he is not the least worried about what I might do!
I was about to burst with pride when I finally located him.....
He actually did say once that he is holding a real rifle and is capable of shooting anyone not behaving, but that he would be really sad to shoot one from his family. So I thought it would be better to behave well!
Since the tourists took pictures with the soldiers anyway, I took my chance and pretended to be a tourist (he didn't shoot me!) - and then I had to go back home to my part of the article once more. By now I'm done writing my part and I even bought 9 (Yes. NINE!) Christmas gifts and just need to pack my stuff and go to Jutland this evening. Bringing gifts.
(I'm still so proud!)
