Sjalet / The shawl
The shawl is dry and went out in the snow for some pictures. It's really nice after blocking, I think!
I used 70 grams of Drops Lace yarn, which is 70% alpaca, 30% silk. It is really not a great amount of yarn for such a big shawl!
The pattern is "Omelet" - a really pretty pattern that I will give my recommendations. The shawl is made for the mother of my sister-in-law and I think she is going to really love it. She asked me to make it for her, but since she is the kind of person who never asks anything from anyone, I have been very happy to make for her. (Except for the times I almost threw it out the window. Not her fault.)
Yesterday I wrote that I wasn't completely satisfied with this. I'm still not, but it's only minor details. The yarn is exceptionally slippery and very, very black. I've had a very hard time seeing if I made a mistake somewhere, and if I dropped a stitch, it had fallen a few rows down in no time, and by then I had no chance of seeing how to correct the pattern. So there were some frustrations every now and then.....
I'm not very pleased about the cast-off edge. I had to re-do it a total of 3 times! No matter how loose I tryed to bind off, it's still very tight, since the yarn is so smoots. I couldn't make any points along the sides, but I still think it looks nice. (And on Ravelry I can see that other people made it straight-edged intentionally.)
My conclusion? It's a really nice shawl!
