Yes - I searched for and found yarn stores here in Jerusalem, and yes, I visited them. So here follows the first half of the shops!
The very first shop I stumbled across was "Bernina", located on Agripas St 23, right where bus nr 19 passes, which is why I found it. Of course I needed to check it out one day!
It sells sewing machines and yarn. Not a lot of yarn, and most of it acrylics (which I guess is typical for all the yarn shops here!), but also a bit of cotton and a tiny amount of something with wool.
The next shop is at the corner of Ben Yehuda St and King George. It's called "City Cellar", looks a bit sinister, but it is the place. Down in the basement is a strange collection of different shops, one of them being a yarn shop!
Here, you could find acrylics to fulfill your hearts desire. But not only that! There is actually several different types of cotton, cotton/bamboo, sock yarn (oh yeah - the one containing mostly wool!), angora and even corn-yarn!
By the entrance there was even a rather large basket holding the most delicious, soft, heavy, hand-dyed wool! I looked down to the bottom of the basket to see everything, and I did buy a pretty skein.
Of the 4 shops I found (you'll hear about the rest some other day), this was by far the best one!
