Drama & Keith Richards
On Saturday morning, when entering the living room, I found a bird covered in blood on one wing and on the beak. There was blood on the bars, and on the wall as well. I was so shocked! It was good, old "Bølle", who seemed quite weak. Didn't sing much. My sister was consulted, and we agree very much in that animals shouldn't suffer. Apparently (fortunately?), as a doctor I'm a real softie, and killing/euthanize subjects only concerns flies, wasps, mosquitoes and spiders.
But it was a pity seeing him, so actually I got ready for the killing, when he suddenly flew a round. Not in a very pretty way, but still a round. He got a chance for surviving, and I found out that budgies can have "blood feathers" - new, soft feathers with a big blood vessel inside. If a feather like this is broken, they can bleed quite heavily, and I guess that is what happened.
Now I'm back home after another, wonderful 24 hours in the amazing house my sister and her family borrowed, and Bølle is singing happily as always. There is still a little blood here and there, but he is not so easily killed! Maybe his name should be changed to Keith Richards!
