Start på ferien / Starting the vacation
My vacation started in the most perfect way when I first picked up a bag of wollmeise, and then experienced a miracle. Almost. My oldest nephew is knitting, and his brother swore, that he would never, EVER do this.
Last Sunday I was told, that he found a Belgian girlfriend, and then that they had had a bet which he lost. The punishment was for him to KNIT something for her! So he called and nicely asked if I could teach him how to knit. IF???????
Apparently he has great taste in yarns. He ended up choosing the DK wollmeise, and he's going to make a hat. First a 2-3 inch broad stripe of garter stitch, big enough to fit around the head, and then we are going to pick up stitches and he will knit upwards, making it into a hat. He also chose some green-grey yarn for flowers to put on the hat. The colors look wonderful together, and I'm quite convinced he has the genes to become a super-knitter!
In between all the knitting, we had a tiny barbeque in the back yard. His sister came as well, and it was a wonderful evening! They ended up watching "Gremlings 2" for the first time. They were not very impressed, but it is a classic! I had a great time.
Grimme? Ja! Men neongul er jo så hot!
Oh - and the yellow socks are done! Right on time, since they will be given away today. They are for the birthday girl turning 11. I used a total of 75 grams of arwetta and sparkling opal.
Ugly? Yes! But bright yellow is very hot right now!
