I planned to knit a star wars sweater for my youngest nephew, and I had to do a little research.
So here are some examples from Ravelry. It could help him understanding what his aunt actually imagined about this!
First the very pretty R2D2 school-photo sweaters.
Here is another possibility with the round yoke and other different motives.
It is also a possibility to do pictures on the front of the sweater!
Another round yoke. I personally really like R2D2 and the light swords!
The nephews 24 year old (tomorrow) cousin suggested that I made a sweater with for instance Darth Maul and then write "Sith happens". This idea was quickly killed by the 10 year old......
På ærmet står der "Star wars" og på ryggen står der "may the force be with you".
A giant at-at on the front is another possibility! The sleeve says "Star wars" and on the back it says "may the force be with you".
You could also make a sweater looking like Darth Vaders clothes. Extremely cool, but somewhat nerdy, if you don't normally wear the mask.......
You could also add everything.
So - Henriette! - would you please make the young man study this and think?

I toget / On the train
My train-ride has been up-graded right now. Not because I'm riding first class. I did that since the beginning, taking advise from others who are traveling the other way. It doesn't cost much more, and there is always a place to sit.
It is not the knitting, either. THAT was also there all the time, although I changed it into a new one a few times!
No, it's because I have to read some articles. I will need it soon. Then it's really nice how articles work really well with a rib-vest in size 2 years!

Freestyling
Another little vest has been finished. This one was started in September, after I bought the yarn in Nykøbing Falster when we had the lovely weekend in the summer-house.
The vest was knitted up in the shop, and was made with random cables. It looked really fun, so I wanted to try this, although the pattern was somewhat more structured.
Although I tried to make them random, it doesn't look that way. For real, you know!
The cables are symmetrical around the middle and alike on the front and back, but it looks like I had some serious problems letting the cables grow long!
Købt for nogle år siden i New York.
The buttons are so cute you almost die a little...... Bought in New York a few years back.
The yarn is incredibly soft "Soft wool" from Lana Grossa. Extremely squishy and nice. The vest weighs 95 grams and was knitted using size 4 mm needles.
It was supposed to be for a little boy who is part of the (very) extended family. My nieces little nephew. Unfortunately, I think I made it far too small for the young man who is growing like crazy. So I'd better start something new! And then I guess I'll happen to meet a baby in need of a vest at some point.

Blade / Magazines
Sometime you need a little inspiration, right? So I brought home a few magazines from the US, and then a Danish magazine happened to land in my post box. It is from my very sweet friend, who is not only suffering from knowing me, but she also has a knitting-crazy sister. So now her sister convinced her to take a membership somewhere, and I got the magazine. Really not bad!
Now I have the problem of how to make some of the new and interesting stuff from these patterns. In the middle of everything. (No, I do not crochet much, but I somehow want to!)
What do you do with all the new, exciting stuff? You can't make everything.......

Ikke kun kræft / Not just cancer
Tro mig!
Pas godt på dem!
October is breast cancer month. Today, though, you'll get another pattern. There are other horrible diseases than cancer! Both in children and adults........
So today, you can knit a pair of lungs. You really don't want to get sick in those. Believe me!
Take good care of them!

Lilla anemone / Purple anemone
The little undershirt/vest for young miss T1 is finished. It took me some time to get the edges crocheted, but yesterday I succeeded!
It's made with wollmeise (which can be machine-washed and looks pretty and all!) using 3 mm needles, and the pattern is this one.
I really did believe that I was so clever to knit it in the round, changing the pattern a little and so on. I did do it, but it had been better if I had just followed the pattern, since the garter stitch edge has a seam down one side and not down the other.
But now I know! It pays off doing exactly what Sanne says.........
It had little white buttons - buttons like that can be used for everything! - and turned out really pretty, although I didn't follow the pattern completely.
Definitely worth a repeat for the other little lass in the family!
It weighs 85 grams, and so I already am above the weight of what I knit during the entire last year. Not bad at all!

Mere nyt / More news
I really got a lot of new things started lately. My 16 year old nephew in the US also wanted a sweater. With a motif in front. The rest of the sweater should be white.
It isn't really that interesting to knit mono-color stockinette stitch, but fortunately I could knit the back while at the conference in Phoenix, and the sleeve when I went to Jönköping. This way it feels faster!
The motif in front will be a sun. Like on this guy from the computer game.
So - as soon as I get to do the front, I will have plenty of action! I just need to make the chart, but then there are web pages like this one.
The hoodie for his sister also reached its goal and was well received. It was worn for school the next day and it fits, so I really can't ask for more........

Lang vej / Long way
These socks really took some time from when I first started them this summer. Just to discover that I picked the wrong yarn for the nephew I thought they were made for.
So I knit one sock, made socks from the "right" yarn and started the other sock.
The next nephew in line, who will get them instead, has his birthday soon, and then I needed to finish them!
Although it's just plain rib, they are so wonderful and warm, and I think he will like them. The socks took 85 grams of Zitron Trekking XXL on needles size 2.5 mm.

Yesterday, I went for my so far longest trip there and back at my new job. We were going to a meeting in Jönköping, which is quite far up in Sweden, and we had to leave quite early. To be exact, at 6.26 a.m. From Lund, you know!
When my alarm clock went off at 4.15 a.m., it really had to work a bit to wake me up, but succeeded!
It was so, so pretty when we got there! Sunshine, fall colors and the giant Vättern lake! We were so lucky with the view, since it's very often not only cold and windy, but also foggy, as I was told........
It was my 10-day anniversary at the new job, and I really love being there. There are some challenges, alright. New language, new computer-systems, new colleagues and a different country.
But it's so great to work with something I love, although I have to get up early (fortunately not at 4.15 a.m. normally!), and I practice the language. Every day. I'm getting better at it, but I did start almost from scratch with quite a big potential for progress.
Yesterday, I was cocky enough to speak Swedish on the way home on the train. Yeehaw!

Hende her kan også / This girls also knows how to do it
It's not just the oldest one of the 2 small girls who knows how to charm her way into my knitting.
The small one knows her way, too! (Her parents help a lot, of course. Please notice her dad's knitted tie!)
When you're wearing a knitted cardigan for your aunt's wedding, complete with matching shoes, you are well along the way.
The pumpkin hat was worn as soon as it reached her (and by looking at the surroundings I guess it became her well!), is also helping.
I'm definitely going to knit for this one as well during the next months!

Lidt mere lige på / A bit more obvious
It's still October and breast cancer awareness month.
Today's pattern is down to business.
On the other hand. When did a washcloth not need a pair of breasts?
The pattern is this one.

Hvordan skete det her? / How did this happen?
When I was in Phoenix and going home from the lovely yarn shop, I was knitting on the tram. (The white project at the bottom.) Suddenly I saw something stuck in my knitting!
Turned out to be a bit of a double pointed needle.
I have succeeded in breaking one of the lovely, square double pointed needles now and then, but when I pulled the sock out, ALL needles had broken! To pieces.
Måske var strømpen bare frustreret over at blive ignoreret. Igen.
Nå. Må ud at købe nogle nye.
This many pieces, to be exact.
I have no idea how this happened! I have trouble imagining how I would suddenly have sit on them, breaking all of them, or done some other weird things, but what other explanation could there be?
Maybe the sock was just very frustrated that it was ignored. Again.
Well. Have to buy new ones. I like having an extra set, and they are really wonderful to knit with!

The apple hat reached its destination, and was very happily welcomed. Quite quickly, I received a photo of child wearing hat, while roaring like a lion (the postcard showed lions).
The hat has been stuck to her head, more or less, ever since, and to top it, I received a photo yesterday of child wearing not only hat, but also red, knitted socks, which she refused to take off.
If THAT is not a reason for knitting more for a happy, little recipient, then I don't know what is!
(I hvid!
That is why my train-project this week has been an Anemone-vest for the very same young lady, who is in need of a few vests for winter. In something that is not itchy, that is.
Wollmeise is not itchy. At all. So that is what I picked. Arwetta is not itchy either, so that will be used for the second vest. (In white! That's the wish. In my head, white and kids are non-compatible. Probably because I always spill something if I'm wearing white!)

Frem fra mørket / Out of the darkness
Once upon a time, almost 4 years ago, I started a nice cardigan for me. It has more than 40 cables on the busy rows, so it grew rather slowly.
It was so slow that it went down into a basket after a few months. This didn't mean I forgot it! Oh no, the dear Amanda has had several thoughts over the years.
But now she comes out again. Tonight, this winter's plan of watching "Matador" is taking off, and in my head, Amanda is part of that. Just to give her a chance!

Min fødselsdagsgave / My birthday gift

When I was to go flying, I had to start. After 2 plane-rides this led to the first patchwork-piece getting done. My gauge is not quite perfect, but I guess a little stretching and somewhat broader bits on the sides will work miracles....... It will become really pretty, I think!

Smukt garn / Pretty yarn
I did happen to buy a little yarn in Tempe Yarn. Just because it was so pretty. And since I was there!
Exactly as usual and very unimaginative, I thought that a skein of sock yarn or lace is easily used. So this time I ended up with 100 grams of hand-painted, thin yarn in beautiful colors. It will be interesting to see what this will become one day! It is this type of yarn.
This skein of slightly thicker yarn also came home with me. Same yarn company, same shade of red, but this one with glitter.
Again - exciting, how this will end up! I do think something warm for winter. For me.
These labels were just too cute, and I had to buy them.
Apart from the yarn shop, the afternoon also came with a quick trip to Jo-Ann with a colleague who is also into crafts. As always, it is so impressive to enter the giant store with everything for creative activities! The yarn is not worth buying, though......

På farten / On the go
Stadig oktober.
Still October.
Todays pattern is a nice, pink bottle holder, which will help you bring something to drink when you are out and about.
With the breast cancer ribbons, of course.
The pretty (and practical!) little bag can be found here.

Tempe Yarn
(Kom lige 10 min for sent tilbage......)
During the lunch break of Saturday, I just managed to visit a yarn shop! (I returned 10 minutes late........)
It was quite a journey to visit Tempe Yarn, since I had to take the tram for about 30 minutes and then walk about a kilometer, but it was worth it!
The shop was actually really big (and cool! Important in this warm weather....) and held plenty of yarn AND a big table where knitters could sit and knit. All of these are very important ingredients in a good yarn-shop visit!
They have the well-known brands like Cascade, Manos del Uruguay and Rowan (which I didn't buy. Expensive in Europe => extremely expensive in the US!), but also locally produced and dyed yarns, that were all clearly marked.
On top of everything, they also sell other local products like ceramics and sewn knitting bags.
As you may have guessed, I happened to buy a little. The local stuff! As the seller noticed, it was just as well I came from Denmark. This means I'll actually get to use the wool!
All in all a really nice shop, if you happen to pass by!

Cowboy land
Yesterday, I managed to get to see Scottsdale, a Phoenix suburb, during a break in the program. It was a really exciting place to see. I wouldn't have been very surprised if John Wayne had suddenly appeared round the corner on his horse!
This is old native American territory, and the desert is well known for the red cliffs. In this suburb, all houses were built using red/orange/sand-colored stones, to keep the look of the surroundings. This looks very, very pretty.
There was a long street with shops looking like they came straight from a western. The shops held beautiful, handmade quality things inside.
It was very funny seeing the shop with cowboy-boots! So many different kinds......
I also met a cowboy!
He was sitting very still and wasn't real. In the heat of this town, you might start to worry how the real cowboys smelled!
The sunset was really beautiful, too. Palm trees against the sun are really special!
