Klar til lidt sol / Ready for a little sun

My new summer top is done, and I really like it. It took me a few hours to sew everything together, and I'm really happy I don't freeze when I get as far as the finishing part...... Phew.
I don't mind sewing, but it did take some patience!
In total, I used about 5.5 skeins of the red and almost 1 skein of white, yellow and green for the top. It fits well, and I'm happy. You never really know, how something knitted really will turn out until its done and worn, do you? There were moments when I had my doubts......
The pattern is this one, and it's really nice and easy. If you're not afraid to do some sewing!

Knitter's pride

Here you go. Another of those patterns I never dreamed existed!
But why not? A knitted cover for the spare tire.
If you are really good at knitting, you might as well show it to the world!

Sommer og silke / Summer and silk

Ingen artikler. Ingen arbejde. Ingen planer. (eller....... lejligheden trænger til lidt opmærksomhed!)
God søndag i solen!

Yesterday I promised to show my upcoming summer top. It is this pattern that I found on Ravelry, doing a pattern search for needles size 4.5 mm, top, female and adult. Of course there were other patterns as well, but this one looked good.
It's actually very simple - 4 pieces of knitted fabric sewn together to become a top. It is so simple that you think it can no way become something good! But on the finished models I think it looks really good, so now I go for it.......
I just need to make one more piece that will hopefully be knitted today. Today is a day for relaxation!
No articles. No work. No plans. (Or...... well. The apartment really needs a bit of time!)
Happy sunny Sunday to you!

Nuttet / Cute

Model, garn osv. Men altså.

This should have been a post about my summer-blouse-knitting. Model, yarn and so on. But you know what? My youngest nephew came to visit Thursday and Friday, and he was just as cute as he ever is. So here's a bit about him instead.
He was truly disappointed when he realized that all the shops where closed on Friday (National Holiday). But fortunately, we could visit the National Museum! He had his plans, though. They do have a museum shop, and just imagine, what gifts he could possibly get from there!
First we had been making a candle and dyed yarn. Had breakfast and played games. Played with the bathing ducks in the kitchen sink. And had lunch. We had such a nice time!

Before we visited the shop, we went back in time in Denmark. It was fun! We passed through the stone age, bronze age, the age of the vikings (and probably some more ages in between!). They had a lot of burial stuff, cool swords, beautiful axes and a lot of bits and pieces. For instance a skeleton wearing a hat. And more skeletons buried with beads, drinking glasses and so on. We agreed that if I had been buried and was lying there as a skeleton, they would have found a coffin with a skeleton buried in yarn!
In the shop they had different cool things (phew!), and the young man ended up having a wooden sword and a wooden shield. He wasn't quite sure when he would need it, but it looked good! As you can see, the sword fitted perfectly in his pants.
After delivering him back home, I went back to my place and watched the newly dyed yarn dry too slowly. While I was knitting on the sparkly socks and revising my article. Today I'll work. Tomorrow I'll RELAX! More about the summer-blouse tomorrow.

Smukt! / Pretty!

The rest of the dye turned into this. I'm already very excited for this to become beautiful socks!

Striber / Stripes

He has a sock yarn blanket that will become socks for him later. He has 5 colors and any pattern he can imagine. And then he chooses stripes????

Denne gang i Opal glimmergarn. Hvorfor? Bare fordi jeg kunne......

These socks are incredibly boring. Totally plain rib-pattern, very long socks, made with 2.5 mm needles. They have come a long way, which I don't quite understand, but now they are done and have been posted for my nephew.
They took 140 grams of wollmeise, colorway WD Mitternacht. Very pretty color.
There were more articles to read, so I started another pair of rib socks. This time in Opal sparkly yarn. Why? Just because I could........

Superhyggeligt!
Denne gang brunch med min søster. Vi tog til Vesterbro.

For the third time in 4 days I've visited a cafe. Pure hygge!
This time I had brunch with my sister. We went to Vesterbro.
Caféen var denne her.

The cafe was this one. Really nice place! All the furniture was different, the food was delicious and the service was great. We were the only ones when we came, and there was a lot of space on the couch. But before we left, the cafe was full.

Children are welcome as well......
Oh well. And I'm sure you are all thinking "And what about the knitting?" Well...... The socks for my nephew are going to be DONE and posted today. I'd better get started reading those articles!

Hurtigt og nemt / Quick and easy

Now it is spring (it IS!), and I guess no-one really needs today's pattern.
But just in case you happened to be in need of a little flower, then check this out. How about a yarn-flower?
The Pom pom flowers and very quick and easily made. There is a tiny bit of knitting when making the stems, but it's not too much.....
Maybe you can even use them for activation of the children during the present teacher-lock-out? Pom poms are excellent for un-boring children!

Yarnshop crawl, Copenhagen

Her købte jeg - meget omhyggeligt! - ingenting.

My friend from Esbjerg is also a hardcore knitter and yarn nerd. We didn't have many plans for the weekend, apart from brunch Saturday, and watching a lot of episodes from a Danish TV-show and then visit some yarn shops. I thought we might as well visit as many as possible!
We started by spending my Christmas present, having "Brunch with bubbles" at Metropolitan, right in the middle of Frederiksberg and pretty close to my place. It was a great brunch!
Afterwards, we visited the yarn shops closest by. First Garn-iture, which is a fine, little shop that is going to close down in order to move to another place. I have never been inside before, and I bought new kids-needles with cats on top. Just in case my youngest nephew wants to learn how to knit again.
Then we went to Jorun garn. As always, I just love the table with cones! Here I bought - very well-restrained! - nothing.
I meget høj grad!)

The next few shops were place close to the metro. First we took a ride to Vanløse, to visit Nørkleriet, where I was ever so helpful finding yarn for Anette to buy! They had a great offer on silk outside, and it was very tempting! But I just bought a few more needles.
Rasmilla is also worth a visit when you are from out of town, and the shop is located very close to Amagerbro station. We made it, just 15 minutes before closing time, and I just had to buy the bright, yellow yarn. I guess I could make something a niece would like!
By then, it was 2 p.m., and the shops were closing. We thought it had been a great day. Four shops in one day is not bad!
Since we were watching the TV-show, I thought a visit to "Laundromat" would be fun. One of the main characters is working in this cafe. (It was a hit! Very much!) To get there, we took the metro to Nørreport.
Arriving there, we discovered that Uldstedet was open until 3 p.m.! It was nice to see the new shop! Inside I discovered what the yellow yarn was for - and I bought a little sock yarn and some bright orange and green as well. They had some very pretty scarfs and blouses made with 2 rows of kid-mohair and 2 rows of self-striping sock yarn. It looked amazing! So now I have yarn for 2 scarfs for 2 nieces. Depending on which one of them shouting "ME" first.
After 5 shops? We were quite exhausted and went home to the couch and tv.....

Fristet / Tempted

Her gik det galt. Helt galt!
Uha, men Ih!

THEN I started knitting! My friend arrived, and walking from the Central Station to my apartment, we passed two yarnshops. On purpose, of course - which is why we chose walking!
First we visited the new 'Wadil's', where I really kept myself under control and only bought a set of double point needles. It's a wonderful shop! I never even visited the big main shop in Valby, which might be just as good. Would become very expensive!
Further down Vesterbrogade we visited 'Terese Garn' the yarnshop with the highest concentration of yarn ever. Everything is piled up in there!
Here everything went wrong. Terribly wrong! From earlier, I new they had Hjertegarn 'Roma', a nice blend of cotton and acrylics, totally non-scratchy and great for keeping shape and color after washing. Perfect for my sister's kids! I want to make a sweater for my 13 year old nephew some time, so I bought blue yarn for this. He is tall!
While I waited, I noticed some cotton and silk. Quite thick and with a wonderful colorplay from the two shades in the yarn. And suddenly I also brought home yarn for a summer top for me!
Already, I came quite a long way with it.......
Today we are going to visit more yarnshops. I'm scared! And excited!

Ikke strikning, men..... / Not knitting, but.......

There hasn't been much done in the knitting department over the last few days. Not a single stitch have been made on the socks for my nephew, and that is not very good! It means that I haven't read any articles.......
What I DID read, was the beginning of this book! (Cathedral of the sea) My oldest niece gave it to me at some point (I think it was for my birthday), and when I visited her, she was a little angry with me for not reading it......

Especially since we visited the cathedral that the book is named after. Very, very impressive! I've started the book by now, and had to read the second and third chapter too, after reading the first. It's really good!
Today my fried from Esbjerg will come, and I do think that the next few days will bring a lot of knitting....... When I will read articles after she left, I guess I'll just have to start a new project!

Nye øreringe / New earrings

My Barcelona-weekend didn't leave time for a lot of shopping (but I got a blister the same size as my little toe. Under the toe.), but I did buy a little.
On our long walk on Sunday, we passed a market with a little shop selling the most wonderful earrings. It was very difficult to pick just a few!
Pac-man and the ghost had to come home with me.

The coffee and croissant also came home with me, even though they are a little bigger. Pretty, huh?
They are hand-made from cernit, and you can see a few more examples on the artist's blog. There are some on page 2, at least.

Pink!

I picked up my new bike yesterday. It is SO COOL! Very light, and it feels faster than the old one.
And it's pink...... I can hardly imagine things getting much better!

Marilinda

After some very deep breaths and about a year, I increased the group of sock recipients (there wont be fewer when the younger members of the family find their partners and at some point start having children of there own!).
These socks should have been done by Saturday, but 2.25 mm needles and many miles of walking combined with cables just didn't do the job.....
They are for my nephews wife, and she approved of them already. I'm totally crazy about the pink color, and pink Cascade Heritage Paint is something I want to always have ready in my stash for immediate cast-on, if necessary.......

The pattern is "Marilinda" by Cookie A. Really nice pattern, that is very interesting, but not so complicated that you have to sit with the pattern all the time. I did a few changes, one was a line of the chart, the other was were to begin in the pattern after the heel. I have a hard time thinking that Cookie A. would be capable of making a mistake, but it looked like it..... I'm glad we are allowed to improvise!
The weigh a total of 75 grams, and as soon as the socks for my nephew are done as well, they will be posted.

Flat Rat Pack

Det er forår! HURRA!
Opskriften er denne her.

Spring has come! HOORAY! It means it is time for you to put a mark in your boom, close it and go outside into the fresh air......
Today's pattern is the funniest bookmark I ever saw! Flat rats in piles, so you can have more than one bookmark in your book and still tell them apart, since the ears and tails have different colors.
Pure genius! The pattern is this one.

Niece visit

Right now, my oldest niece is living in Barcelona in order to have lessons by a certain flute trancher. It is for 7-8 months, and while here, she has also been travelling all over Europe. She will be coming home soon.
This weekend I'm visiting her.
It is so nice and very relaxing!
Yesterday, we happened to pass a yarn store! It was closed, but look at the nice pillow in the window! Almost makes me want to embroider.......

Last night we went for Tapas, and on the way we met some groups performing by hitting each others sticks in different ways to music. Sounds silly, but it was amazing how they danced around doing it!
They were hitting the sticks very hard, and an ambulance was waiting on the side, in case of bumped heads or hurt fingers.

The food was delicious and even the tiny fish tasted great, much to my surprise! The weather is summer-like, and the only bad thing is that I will be going back home tonight.....

Torsdag / Thursday

Yesterday was a day out of the ordinary, so I'll give you a few snapshots. First from the morning's work. Since I was supposed to leave for a meeting around lunch-time, lasting the rest of the day, my list of patients only held 2 names. When I started. After 1 hour it had grown to 6 patients. But then we had the most awesome cakes because the lab technician turned 30!

The meeting was at a hotel in the middle of town. Veeeerrrrrryyyyy boring (sorry, it was). I clang to my knitting and succeeded in paying attention most of the time. The sock wasn't finished, but I'll try knitting the rest of the sock (first of a pair) today.
The hotel, on the other hand, was nice, with "trees" in the reception.

Since I don't have a bike right now, I walked home, and passed these pretty windows in Sct. Thomas Church on Frederiksberg.
I do have a bike-plan, though. I will have to get a new one within the next week (before my next on-call duty), and in the bike-store they have the prettiest, pink bike hanging in the window display. The prettiest! EVER!
I did ask our host from the medical company, though, if they would sponsor a bike? I would be more than happy to pedal around on an commercial Creon-bike - I would even be willing to wear a helmet looking like capsules, if necessary! - if they would sponsor it. Probably it would prevent it from being stolen as well.......
She looked like she would love to have a bike like that too (and use it!), but I guess it will never happen.
I'll just go with the pink.
