I haven't met one myself, but my sister usually sees one on her way back from work. Same place, same time. EVERY day. (It would be interesting doing a psychology test on that groundhog. Why is it crossing the street at the same time every day? Is it trying to solve a murder?)
Well. Anyway. You can make it as a coaster for a cup. Cute, right?

Ann Arbor
It didn't make me too sad leaving the weather in Denmark yesterday. Which is all that I need to say about the Danish summer this year!
The flight was very peaceful and uneventful. The biggest problems was the I didn't manage to finish the socks entirely, and then that I had an apple in my bag, which I hadn't managed to eat. THAT's not allowed! Fortunately, I got through by apologizing very sincerely.....
And then I arrived! Unloaded all the candy, the liver paté and shredded ham (because THAT was allowed to bring!), found my shorts and tried staying awake for a reasonable time. We cheered in cherry wine from Michigan, had licorice boats and were watched closely by Bailey, who is as cute as ever. This time, though, he DIDN'T growl at me when I came. That's progress!
Right now, it's morning. The rest of the family is sleeping a bit more, and I'd better finish the socks.
But I just have to show you that the cardigans arrived in Northern Jutland. The size is just right, and don't they look cute, little miss T2 and her baby brother?

Ready, steady - GO!
FINALLY, my vacation started! At work, people started coming back from their vacation, school is appearing in the horizon again, and since we had a sad summer, weather-wise, it has been some very long weeks, these past 3 weeks of work.
But yesterday, I waved bye-bye to Sweden and went home. After sleeping far too little last night (it's impossible falling asleep again when you know you'll be travelling, although it's too early!) I sit here with my coffee. Packed and ready.
The candy is also packed. This time, with a bit more chocolate. A nice mix of candy, but with a lot of licorice.
It will be SO nice sitting on the plane - it's always so relaxing! Time to watch movies and knit at the same time, with nothing else to do. But as always, it feels surreal to be able to fly almost halfway around the globe in less than 12 hours. And even more surreal waking up at 4 a.m., knowing that they hardly went to bed over there. I need to sleep a bit on my second plane, because otherwise I'll just fall over and land in a bed when getting there.....

Nogle gange trænger man / Sometimes you just need it
I don't know how all of you out there feel about work. Most of the time, I'm really, really happy with mine, but this last week before my vacation, has been kind of tough.
We had a lot of very sick patients, and they always get inside my heart in some way. EVERY time. I can get FURIOUS, if my patients are not treated as they should be, but most of the time, it works out as planned.
This week has been really challenging, colleague-wise. Not all pediatricians behave the same way! Especially yesterday, I was really fed up. Unfortunately, I was so tired, that I never followed my plan. What I needed, was a nice murder, and we all know how Barnaby always delivers! It feels like half the village get killed every time, and it's not so nerve-wrecking that I don't dare to watch.
Maybe I should watch an episode tonight instead? After I packed my suitcases, you know. I'm really, really excited to get away!
Do any of you out there feel the same? Do you sometimes need a quick murder to cheer up life?

Tvungen ferie / Forced vacation
My budgies, who usually stay at home when I leave, had to go somewhere to be taken care of, since my old neighbor would like to go and see her new grand-baby instead of taking care of birds. Her dog just died, so right now she is not forced to stay at home, which is really nice for her!
In order to be moved, the birds had to get into the smaller cage that I can bring. THAT was no fun!
I had to catch them and they are certainly not used to being treated like that, or to stay in the small cage, but it still went well.
They went on a bus trip, and I don't know what they thought about that. They talked quite a lot.
My sister was sure they feared to die. I really hoped they tried cheering up each other. One way or the other, they survived!
So now they are at my brother's place. His dog needed to take a closer look on these strange animals, but after staring long and hard, he rather wanted to do something else.
So even though this photo looks kind of scary, I do think it will work out well. It's nice to know that they are in good company!

The dress is kind of fun to knit, so it's really growing well!
I'm using 2.5 mm needles, which I think is very thin. But the dress actually looks kind of big! It will be interesting whether it really ends up as a size 0-3 months, or whether it will fit for a very long time....
The color is very nice, and as usual, the hand-dyed shines through. By the way, did you see the new, soft colors in Wollmeise? They are sooo pretty.......

Elefanter / Elephants
Mønsteret finder du her.
In every knitters home there should be - books! No-one can manage without some knitting books?
If you don't have a lot, they need something to lean on, and today's pattern is just for solving this problem.
A nice, strong elephant as a book-end!
The pattern can be found here.

Lidt træt / A bit tired
God dag derude!
Yesterday, I was working. I guess I was a bit tired, because first, I forgot my extra bag on the metro. I found out when sitting in the Øresunds train, which hadn't left, so I had to run back to find my bag and then catch the next train.
Well. Then I would be 15 minutes late. But then I switched train in Hyllie - I thought! Because the train didn't leave from the usual platform, and I only discovered when I saw it leaving!
Fortunately, the rest of the day went better, and now, in the morning, I'm back home. That's nice. On the train home I knit - a sock! Of course there are more birthdays coming up. Have a nice day!

There is another new project on my needles. A little baby-dress, using another pattern so that I won't only knit Clara dresses.
It's 300 stitches on size 2.5 mm needles, so it's not very fast to knit a round, but I do see some progress. I can't wait to see it finished, and I'm looking forward to my vacation very soon with time to knit.....

Chokolade og babyer / Chocolate and babies
In a bit more than a week, my "real" vacation starts. The 3 weeks long one. I'll be going to my sister's, and I can't wait!
I'm gathering quite a pile of candy, and yesterday, I found a new sort of chocolate - "Blueberries in vodka". They taste okay, but my favorite is still "Plums in Madeira".
The rest will be shared with the family in the US!
Furthermore, I started a baby blanket. It will be "Det hele kongerige" (a traditional Shetland hap). I don't really like white baby blankets, considering how leaky babies are, so it will be the multi-color Arwetta. No-one knows the gender, but I do think the green colors will work fine for both genders.
There is so much more baby-clothes to knit.......

En smølf? / A smurf?
The next finished project is blue and around 3 apples tall. The cardigan for baby brother in Jylland is done!
I had found 6 pretty buttons for the cardigan, and on my way to work this Tuesday, I was planning to knit a similar number of button holes. But it was so hard doing the calculation at 7 a.m. on the train! After I finally succeed after my third try and I had nice button holes equally distributed, I discovered that I had 7 (!) button holes. That I didn't want to re-do.
It helped going doing some button-shopping after work!
The pattern is Raja's Raglan, also a classic! I turned it into a cardigan instead, which went very well. It's made in Katia "Sun Degradé", a nice cotton yarn with stripes. It weighs 150 grams, and since I still have a bit of the third skein left, I'm quite happy.
It's made with 4 mm needles, size 6 months. It's a bit smaller than the cardigan for his sister, and I really do hope both cardigans fit!
I have to mail it....

Temmelig unikke / Quite unique
The next pair of birthday socks are done. This time, it was left-overs and stripes, but I didn't have enough of the light blue left to make the socks identical.
But I did use almost all the yarn, since I only have the little bits left lying in the middle!
They're made with Arwetta, I made stripes, and the foot on the second sock got a different stripe pattern. These are not common socks.....
They are made with a split toe, so that my nephew can use them with his Japanese boots. Inside the boots I guess you can't see how the stripes are different?
Anyway. I made size 2.5 mm needles, they weigh 80 grams, and it's pair number 15 this year.
The next pair of striped socks will be using self-striping yarn....
The birthday "boy" really liked them and put them on right away. Which means they were a success!

Nuttet sushi / Cute sushi
Opskriften er her.
Japan is sushi. And cute stuff. Cute stuff with big eyes, to be more exact!
Today's pattern is cute sushi with big eyes.
Fortunately it's crochet, so you don't have to eat it, because who would be able to eat something this pretty?
The pattern is right here.

Første gang / First time
Yesterday, I got my apartment in order. It was wonderful! It was hard to top, but for the first time ever, I had breakfast, lunch and dinner on my balcony! What luxury!
I lived here for 3 years, but the little table and chairs I bought about 1 month ago opens new possibilities, and I just LOVE sitting our there! So by now, the balcony should be used for other stuff than just drying the laundry.
There was also a bit of time for looking at patterns. There is a little girl lying in one of the pregnant bellies, and in the other one, it's a surprise. I love checking patterns.
I also enjoyed my new, girly-colored multi-colored yarn I bought on the way home this Friday. Because it was Friday, and because I for once left my job early.
The socks also got a bit of attention. Sigh - it's so boring knitting striped socks! Just needed to say that!

Orden / Order
Once more, it's weekend. Once more, I have 2 days at home, and once more, I really need these days.
It has been a very easy week at work, though. Not only have I been able to get home in a reasonable time every day, but we also had a freezer filled with ice cream in our post room! I have no idea why it was there, but we were several grateful people eating ice cream.
Today started with breakfast on my balcony. The new furniture I bought fits perfectly, and it's just SO nice!
I'm going to spend this weekend getting things in order again. Although I'm not hysterical in any way, and my apartment surely will never look like anything from a magazine showing peoples homes (unless it's about how yarn lights up any room!), it really bothers me that nothing has it's place.
By now, the closet's ready, and I can move my clothes in there and then get the rest in order. Four weeks of moving chaos has been more than enough.
The bird poop on the window, which I discovered this morning, doesn't help. Fortunately, there are so many plants in the window to disguise it.......

Han har vel 2 fødder / I guess he has 2 feet
The socks for my oldest nephew are halfway there. It's FAR too slow, since his birthday is already Monday!
Both the socks and I would benefit from watching some movies and finish them. It would be nice sitting around doing nothing for half a day, but I'm really bad at doing just that......
The closet is done! It took like forever finishing the second door, since I had a hard time putting it on the closet. My neighbor couldn't help, but fortunately, I figured it out myself.
It's going to be great having everything in order again! The bedroom turned out quite nice in the end.

Også en slags håndarbejde / Also a kind of craft
The wardrobe still takes a lot of my spare time. It's still fun, but oh my, there are so many bits and parts! I actually do think I'll be ready for the LEGO death star after finishing this closet!
It's very lucky that I've been home kind of early the past 2 days. I've had the energy to work on the closet. I'm SICK of mess and things that are not even close to have a normal place!
On Tuesday, I build the drawer in the closet. Very smart idea! But it took a few hours.
Afterwards, the floor looked like this. A closet holds so much cardboard!
Yesterday, it was time for the doors. That's what I planned. But that bit ALSO took a lot of time!
Both doors are with mirrors, and I was very afraid to break anything. I didn't. At least not on the closet door! But the pretty lamp didn't survive meeting an IKEA metal rod.
Unfortunately. I also broke my pants, so this closet NEEDS to be great! (It will be hard to move, at least. It has screws everywhere.)
But by now, I only need to make 1 more door. Tonight is the night! It just NEEDS to get done so I can start putting things away!

Bella 9
The next Bella, for which I only just had enough yarn to cast off the second sleeve, got an edge in very plain, thin cotton of a matching color. It was harder finding 7 identical buttons in the button-box, but fortunately, I had some new buttons which fit okay. So by now it's COMPLETELY done!
Here it is, in the sunshine, on a lawn with a tiny, sour apple.
Here it is in my new closet (which hasn't come any further. Yet.). The yarn is cotton, bought in Spain. The pattern is good, old Bella, and I used needles size 3.5 and 4 mm. It weighs 155 grams, and when I checked the size on Miss T1, I discovered that it actually might fit the 2 year old. I guess no harm can be done by mailing it!

Bær til vinter / Berries for the winter
It's the season for lovely berries from the gardens, and I hope everyone's enjoying it.
We really want to save the sweetness of summer for the next winter, and today's pattern is just for this.
Crochet raspberries and blueberries. Just be careful that no-one will actually try to eat them.....

Nyt skab / New wardrobe
I'm very sorry that there is a lack of pretty, knitted stuff on my blog right now. Yesterday, the day passed by making the wardrobe. When it arrived, it looked like this.
Before it came, I spent time moving and clearing stuff, to make room.
Then it took most of the afternoon and evening to just get this far!
Today, I ache in weird places, and I do doubt whether the closet will get any further today. I won't be at home! (Hopefully, that will give me time to knit a bit....)

En tur i IKEA / A trip to IKEA
I'm not still settled after switching rooms, but it's getting better bit by bit, which is positive, I guess!
I need all my clothes to get in the new bedroom, so I needed a new wardrobe. Which is why I went to IKEA yesterday.
I don't go there very often, but since it's still vacation and should be relaxing, I did a combo. First, I took a nice walk into town - passing the beautiful rose garden which always makes me happy.
In the city center, I visited Uldstedet to get a bit more of the lovely Katia yarn. Beige might not be very exciting, but since the cardigan is too small for little miss T2, I need to make another one. I also bought a bit of purple and multi-color.
In IKEA, they have a lot of wardrobes! Actually, I want my old one, which they didn't have. But what they did have was a very clever computer program, letting you build your own virtual closet, after which you could buy it.
It will arrive this afternoon. And THEN I would love being done changing and tidying!

Work in progress
I haven't really finished anything else, but at least I started something new. The baby brother in Northern Jutland needs a cardigan as well, and I found a bit more self-striping cotton at Uldstedet before I left. He will get a Raja, which I make open in front. On size 4 mm needles, it's very speedy, and though the pattern is simple, it looks so pretty.
De næste fødselsdagsstrømper er også i gang. Striber i rester.
The next pair of birthday socks are also coming up. Stripes in left-overs. They are going to have a split toe - the big toe separately - because my nephew wants to use them with his Japanese boots. Oh well - and there is another birthday in July, so I'd better get on with project "keep the nephews and nieces toes warm", although I started considering whether they really need knitted socks for the rest of my life. It is an ever-growing project!
