Mønsteret må blive dette her fjollede smil - man bliver i godt humør!
God mandag derude.
It ended up being a much better day yesterday than expected. Even at work!
Today is a day off.
The pattern has to be this silly smile - makes you smile too!
Happy Monday out there.

Alle dage fortjener en chance / Every day deserves a chance
Today is one of those days I would like to switch for another one. Well. I don't even really have time for updating the blog properly!
The good thing is that the socks will be finished in time for the birthday.
I also prepared a 'lunch' bag for when I continue to work afterwards.
If you don't have very high expectations for a day, you could always get some positive surprises, right?
I hope.......

Tilbage til arbejdet / Back to work
The first week after my vacation is over, and I celebrated by relaxing!
Yesterday was a challenge. On Thursday I found out that my day off Friday (actually, I had some things I needed to do) was converted to work. On Friday morning I was asked to do something different from what I prepared (my small autistic self didn't like that), and I also ended up with having to work on Sunday.
When I was about to bike home, it started raining.........
Not much to do except to change into dry (soft) pants and set up camp in my couch with a knitting project! It was so nice, actually. I also tried a bag of "cake-in-a-cup" mix, and it wasn't too bad. A Facebook-friend linked to this page. Definitely something I would try if I happen to meet another Friday like that!

For mig.
The yarn from Britt's give-away was changed into a top! It didn't stay with me for more than a few months before I knitted it, and that is actually pretty fast. For me.
I ended up making a Drops-model, that is very pretty and for free. It was made top-down, and it is not difficult in any way. Not even the small lace-pattern in front.
There is also a lace-pattern on the edge. It is a great finish and looks pretty.
It fits really nicely, although the neckline is kind of big now that it has been washed! I guess I'll have to crochet a little. I made it slightly A-shaped in the lower part, although this wasn't in the pattern. But I do think it works really well.
In total, I used 330 grams of yarn and used needles size 3.5 and 4 mm. It is a bit too warm for real summer-weather, but when the weather is like it is right now, it is perfect!

Hurtige sokker? / Quick socks?
I started another pair of birthday-socks. These will be given away on Sunday, so I'm in a hurry.......
For once, they are patterned (this one). This pattern is really perfect if you love purling.......
But they grow quick enough, and it isn't difficult, so I hope I'll make it!

Maybe it was my vacation. A big part of it was probably the crochet blanket! But in total - once my top here will be done tomorrow - I will have put more than 2 kilos on the "knitted in 2015" line during August.
It is amazingly cool!
Now I firmly believe that I can quickly speed-knit another kilo during September. Probably won't happen. But I can still hope!

Hvad man ikke kan se.... / What you can't see.....
Vel?
Mønsteret er dette.
The dog-theme is going on a little longer.....
Today's pattern is for the very nervous dog!
A little hood that covers the eyes. Because what you can't see, won't make you nervous. Right?
The pattern is this one.

Sidste chance / Last chance
Ever since the summer began, I have wanted to bike north to Dyrehaven and see "Korsbæk på Bakken". Yesterday felt like last chance before the vacation is totally over, so off I went along the coast.
There were so many people at the beach!
Well arrived at "Bakken" (which was totally filled with people!), I had ice cream for lunch. Yum! It was huge, but I did eat all of it.
Men igen.
Afterwards, I went for a little walk in "Korsbæk". It was nicely done! But again. Filled with people. I will have to come by some other time. (Korsbæk is built as a model of the small town from the TV-series "Matador", which has been highly popular in Denmark.)
I'm not one of those people who watched "Matador" 50 times and memorized everything. I would really like to watch it again, and fortunately, one of my friends would like to see it also. Like me, she hasn't watched it that many times, so I'm looking forward now to a cozy winter of "Matador", great company and knitting!
I'm excited already.....
Going on through the wood, I met these 3 guys. They are so huge! You don't feel like insulting them, walking around freely like they do, but they are really impressive and beautiful.
And no. I didn't bike on before they HAD crossed the road and was well into the grass!
Strikket fik jeg også. Lidt. Alt i alt en rigtig dejlig dag!
I also knitted. A little. All in all a lovely day!

For the winter I planned to knit a sweater for my youngest nephew with Star Wars motives. He totally agrees. What I DIDN'T plan, was for his big sister to say during the vacation "I know, what you can knit for me, moster! A hoodie with a lining of fleece. It will be warm enough for this winter!"
Since it will be lined, she also meant I was free to make it from "itchy wool" without her being bothered by it.......
It won't be anything itchy, though, but nice wollmeise. We agreed on these colors, and the yellow and green yarn just arrived yesterday.
The chosen pattern is this one with some modifications.
That her big brother then ALSO knew exactly how he wanted a knitted sweater to look, what something that I certainly hadn't seen coming. But I guess I won't be bored this winter!

Anbefaling og strømper / Recommendation and socks
Tingene sælges kun i Michigan.
When I visit Ann Arbor, I always have to visit "Cherry Republic". First time, it was to show me the shop which ONLY sells things from cherries and always have free tasters unlimited. The second time, I just had to go see again, since it was so cozy and stuff.
Third tie, it was a necessity to bring home some of the yummy products. Oh well. And then I bought cherry sodas for our dinner.
The things are only sold in Michigan. Maybe that's a good thing, since I would easily eat way too many chocolates otherwise! The taste is amazing.
Me like!
During the vacation with all the nice possibilities for knitting, I finished the socks for my nephew really fast, and then I made a pair of socks for myself! (WOW!)
Again, it's plain rib, and they are made from the incredibly expensive yarn from Chicago (which I just found online for half the price of what I paid. Not happy.).
They are not totally identical, since there was a knot when I was almost done with the second sock, and the rest of the yarn was put on backwards, pattern-wise. Too bad! Anyways. I think I'll love them during the winter, and I don't mind the thread of glitter. Me like!
They weigh 100 grams, and the yarn is slightly thicker than normal sock yarn, which makes them really nice and warm.

Hjemme / Home
I waved goodbye at Ann Arbor and flew home. And incredibly easy and fast journey, actually. Secretly I hoped for the plane from New York to be over-booked, so I would have to get into town and stay overnight with my friends. But it wasn't. It was rather under-booked.
I had a total of 2 seats for my sleeping, so I guess I can't complain?
Yesterday and today are filled with being tired and having that foggy jetlag-feeling. My birds were kind enough to wake me up this morning, so I wouldn't spend the day sleeping. But only after I slept for 8 hours. They are very bright, you know! (Or something)
The trip was unusual. I didn't really buy any yarn, but on the other hand I bought TWO dresses! You should see those.
The first one is from Macy's, and it just hung around, looking so pretty that I had to buy it. Actually, it looks so nice that I plan wearing it for a wedding! It is pure cotton, and the skirt is so wide that I think I can pull the edges to my ears without even lifting the seam.
The other one was very cheap in TJ Maxx. It also just hung there, looking pretty. It's pretty much straight up and down, and - I'm not kidding you! - it's pure polyester!
But it looks beautiful and I think it is impossible to wrinkle.

I'm sitting here, counting the hours before I'll be going home tonight. Sigh.
The last days of the vacation has been filled with as much wonderful nothing as the last post.
We drank homemade bubbletea! (Tasted great)
There was a bonfire (and more movie!) and roasted marshmallows!
Jeg fik mit livs første S'mores. Den var da okay, omend chokoladen kunne have været bedre......
I got my very first S'mores. It was okay, although the chocolate could have been better.......
There has been a lot of hanging out with the dog and giving it love from everyone in the family. This guy is a dog's favorite!
Ses!
Finally, I also had time for knitting, and I've got around to having the blue yarn from Britt on the needles. I ended up with a Drops model, and I think it will turn out nicely.
Well. I guess I have time for the pool before my suitcase needs packing...... See you!
I'm sitting here, counting the hours before I'll be going home tonight. Sigh.
The last days of the vacation has been filled with as much wonderful nothing as the last post.

Noget at tygge i / Something to chew on
Dogs like things to chew on.
They actually also like a teddy bear or some other soft thing.
So why not knit a bone?
The pattern is this one.

Hygge
Yesterday was very relaxing. We took a walk in a forest and tried (in vain) to have the dog go out in the water. Well. A labrador is a waterdog, right?
It has to study how to behave, since it didn't get further out than this!
Mere. Når jeg nu ikke kan købe garn!
We met a couple of deers relaxing. They were long gone before the dog arrived.
On the way home we had icecream, and since it was right next to the yarn shop, I went for a look.
But it had closed down!
Apparently, this vacation is not the sort of vacation containing yarn shopping, but then I went and bought a dress. Another one. Now that I can't buy yarn!
I kan lige se hendes vinkende hånd over bagsmækken!
In the evening, we went back to the same place to watch open air movie. It was SO nice! My sister, brother-in-law and niece sat in the back of the car. Well. My niece was lying on top of the car. You can see her waving hand above the car!
Rigtig fin film.
My youngest nephew and I went to the lawn in front of the screen. We had bought plenty of chips and brought blankets.
We watched "Big Hero 6", that I haven't watched before. Really nice movie!
Suk........
I also found out what the holes in the blanket are for. Sigh......

Hund og tæppe / Dog and blanket
A dog DID come home with us yesterday! Probably the sweetest dog in the world, and even my youngest nephew (who isn't too comfortable with dogs) couldn't get scared of this one.
At the shelter, it was called Rubble. Now it's called Bailey. (It's brown, sweet and you just can't get enough!) It is 1 year old, only pees outside and can't really get enough petting and stroking. Of course he was instantly and wildly popular!
He is also mega-cute, which doesn't harm anyone. It has been really nice being a part of getting a dog!
By the way, the blanket finished too! It was a very slow job to knit the edge with 560 stitches, but I survived (barely) and got the ends woven as well.
It is so pretty!
The edge is really nice, giving the blanket the final touch.
In total, it weighs 435 grams, and now it's going home with me to get measured, getting the gauge measured and I need to weigh how much yarn I have left of the different colors.

Afslappende / Relaxing
We're back in Ann Arbor and really having a good time. Yesterday, I tried the chairs outside with my knitting (the baby blanket REALLY needs to get done today!) and otherwise we pass time looking (very much) forward to having a dog!
We looked for a dog yesterday. Today we will look for a dog again. Especially for the cute puppies! The kids are over the top excited and it is very exciting, actually!
Last night, we went to the movies. Also very relaxing and nice. I'm enjoying my vacation here and don't want to go home again. By any means. I just don't get it why they have to live so far away......

Japan
There is much love for everything Japanese in the family. So we obviously had to find some Japanese shops and food when in Chicago.
Chinatown is acceptable, too, if there is no Japanese places, so our last day in Chicago was spent in Chinatown, where they had some Japanese stuff as well.
We found a place to eat, where they had bubble tea. Yum, it was so delicious! It's smoothies with jelly-beads that you have to chew. In this special place, they were cooked with sugar and really tasted nice.
We also found Chicago's "Japantown", which is a small mall close by the airport.
They have a well-stocked book-store, where I found some knitting books. Including one by Vivian Høxbro! Unfortunately, I didn't buy it. Unfortunately, since it's actually only published in Japanese!
This book by Helga Isager is in my library at home. In Danish. So I didn't buy that one either.
The strange thing is that I went to this very book store before! Some years ago I visited the family in San Francisco and got a night in Chicago due to snow and ice in the airport. I lived right next to the Japanese center, so when we went to Chicago this time, I already knew about the Japanese book-store!
At that time, I never considered I might be coming back!
They also had a supermarket in the center, where they had all kinds of weird Japanese stuff. We bought candy and stuff.
We didn't buy hair dye, although it was fun to see the different colors for Asian hair!
Der blev dog indkøbt ansigtstmasker. Med snegleslim!
We did buy facial masks. With snail slime!
And a red-wine mask. Not bad! (Now I just have to gather enough courage to try mine!)
My earrings have nothing to do with Japan. But I'm SO ready to watch Sharknado 1 and 2 now!

Superhurtigt / Super quick
My youngest nephew likes monkeys. He has 3 by now, and as you can see, one of them crawled into the sock and the other one is looking for it inside......
Due to car-rides and train-rides I succeeded in making very large socks in just 5 days for my nephew who turns 16 very soon. It is a new, personal record, although it's just plain ribbing. It is on needles size 2.5 mm, though, which makes it something!
The yarn was bought in Flensburg, and I put black stripes on the leg to stretch it. They weigh a total of 120 grams.
