Today is the last day of April. What a month! Snow and cold. One day, I actually thought I would end up with a dark green row instead of the light green, but it didn't end up that bad, fortunately.....
My blanket got quite stripey this month, but when looking ahead in the temperature-prognosis, there is actually hope that the next color, orange, might enter the blanket as soon as next weekend!
THAT would be nice.
(I don't have a lot of light green left, anyway, so I really can't have more cold.)

Akut behov / Acute need
On Wednesday, we had a workshop. Which meant an entire day of education. With the possibility of knitting! The dress was almost done, and I REALLY didn't want to knit socks right now. With 10 minutes to pack a project, it ended up being another Bella. This time with milk yarn in a very neutral (boring) beige color.
Bella is always so pretty!

Hjerter / Hearts
The heart dress is finished! Yesterday, on the train, going to work, I was sewing in the ends and sewing on the buttons.
I'm very, very happy with the result.
It is for little miss T2, whom I may see next week. Will be nice! I do hope she will like the dress. I guess it will fit a one-year-old nicely.
She didn't get a lot of knitted stuff this year, but with this dress and the vest a few days back, I guess she is back on the receiving-knitted-stuff-track again.
The pattern is from a knitting magazine, and it's a pretty model. I bought it together with wool, but now I knitted it in cotton and linen bought at garnudsalg.dk, and it turned out nicely.
The buttons are really pretty as well - the old-fashioned kind with flowers. Very har to resist!
The dress was knitted using 3.25 mm needles, and took 145 grams of yarn. Really not a lot, but it leaves so much left on the cone that I guess I could get a summer top from this as well?

Nuttet / Cute
Since little Miss T1 got so much, it's Miss T2's turn now.
So here is a small vest/undershirt size 2 years. Hopefully, it will fit next winter.
The pattern is "Inderst Inde" by Lene Holme Samsøe. This time, I knitted it in the round. It went very well, actually.
I used Arwetta, which is really nice and soft. In total, 60 grams using 3 mm needles.

Koldt! / Cold!
Som I ved. Det er april. APRIL!!!!!!
EXTERMINATE SNE!
As you all know. It's April. APRIL!!!!!!
All weekend, we had snow on and off.
I'm SO fed up with it.
So that's why these mittens must be in place, even though it's rather late in the year for knitting mittens.

Strikkende kollega / Knitting colleague
One of my earlier colleagues is knitting as well. I was a co-supervisor on her ph.d., and when she held her defense, I thought she would be the right recipient of a skein of real Haapsalu-shawl-yarn and Nancy Bush's book about Estonian shawls.
She really was! Now, one and a half year later, she finished the "Crown Prince Shawl". Isn't it just amazing and beautiful?
It is not very often you find a gift that is so welcomed and well used.

APRIL! Tag dig sammen!
With the positive glasses on, I've come as far as 3.5 hearts on the pretty little girl's dress.
Still some way to go, but it will come with me in the train going to work today, and hopefully I will have (almost) 4 hearts when I get home tonight?
Yesterday, I was in Randers for a confirmation. Thursday was a really long day - leaving home 6.25 a.m. for work, working late so that I didn't get on a train from Copenhagen until 8 p.m. which ended up in Randers around midnight. But it was wonderful to be there (and yes. I knitted.....), although I had to leave a bit early. I was so happy to sleep at home in my own bed last night, although it was less wonderful sitting here looking out at the SNOW?!?!?!?!?!?! APRIL! Get a grip!

Fine huller / Pretty holes
Since I'm not knitting socks, right now, at least, instead I started a vest for the little cutie in Northern Jutland. It's almost the same in a way, you know - rib all around for a long time, so I guess it's great for treating my withdrawal symptoms!
The pattern is this one.
It will be size 2 years, so it will be plenty big for a 1 year old. I do hope the size will kind of fit next winter......

I'm sure there are many things to say about April, but it really isn't a very trustworthy month weatherwise!
The yellow rows in my blanket keep changing with the green. I guess it will stay like this for the rest of the month. The weather switches between sun and wind, and as soon as you hope that spring is here to stay NOW, it's freezing the next day.
So I also have the pleasure of quite a cold, for the very first time this winter. Always interesting how quickly you get fed up with having a cold.....

Blomster og kirkegårde / Flowers and cemeteries
Søndag gik turen rundt i København for at se lidt mere.
This Sunday, the day went buy getting the most out of the last bits of Copenhagen. Last year, I saw so many photos on facebook of the cherry-tree lined road on Bispebjerg Cemetery, and this year, I wanted to see them myself!
The day ended up with us visiting quite a few cemeteries, actually.
First, we passed Assistens Cemetery and checked on Hans Christian Andersen, Søren Kierkegaard and a few more, like Tsarina Dagmars courtiers and French soldiers after the first world war.
That place is always so exciting!
Going on, we passed the Jewish cemetery, which happened to be open. So we had to see that as well!
It was really interesting - especially since they put up small plates telling what those buried there had accomplished.
Finally, we arrived at Bispebjerg and walked all the way to the farthest corner to see the flowers.
Fortunately, it was worth it!
There were a lot of people, but even more flowers. A selfie was kind of needed.......
The rest of the day went by with the little mermaid and the "Kastel". We never got around to visiting a castle, but it was still very nice.
Now Morgana has traveled on. It was such a nice visit!

Mønsteret finder du her.
This is the time of year with cherry trees in bloom.
Yesterday, I went to see them, and why not celebrate with a little necklace?
These flowers will last longer than the real ones.....
The pattern is this.

Dronningens fødselsdag / The queens birthday
Yesterday, we went to the queens birthday. Together with several thousand others.
It was so fantastic!
We didn't arrive as early as planned, which mostly was my fault, so we didn't get very close.
Men vi så dem. Allesammen!
But we saw them! All of them! Prince Henrik was there as well, which was really nice.
It was so much fun and really cool being able to show an American the royal family and real princes and princesses. It also helps how I just love the royal family and everything they do.
My nephew also came, and afterwards he gave us a tour of Christiania. He had never ever showed up for the queens birthday before, but he really liked it, too.
The soldiers wore galla, and there were a lot of them! The flag was being carried inside through this gate, so nobody could get close to the soldiers in the background, but the grandmother of one of the soldiers was really disappointed and got to have a photo with her grandson anyway.
We walked with the soldiers all the way back to their quarters and after having lunch we went on the tour.
The only part of Christiania I saw before, was Pusher Street, which I really, really, really don't like. So I haven't really gone deaper into the place.
But together with Lasse it was quite interesting seeing the place, and we went around, looking at all the homebuild houses that are so pretty. The hill around the place was pretty and green, and we found a couple of swings, too.
Afterwards, we had time to visit La Glace for an amazing round of cakes! I could really only half my cake, but had to save a little room for more whipped cream in the evening, when Morgana was going to have her very first Irish Coffee while watching her very first James Bond movie.
It was a very nice evening.

Familiestrømper! / Family socks!
In the middle of the visit and Copenhagen in April, you just HAD to see these socks! It has felt like a very, very long time, knitting 6 identical socks, but I do think the result is good.
My nephew and his wife both have birthdays in April, and I thought it could be fun to give both + their daughter identical socks. How often do people have that?
So here is the result of 2 skeins of Opal sock yarn and many, many hours of knitting. Socks for Dad, Mom and Baby!
Sock pair number 9, 10 and 11 this year. In total, 180 grams of sock yarn on size 2.5 mm needles. Now I'll have to test if I can knit something else.
Last night, we went to Tivoli. Tivoli is just always so nice. It was a bit cold, but the flowes were set out, it wasn't completely crowded, and then there was the first open air concert which actually atracted quite a crowd.
We also met some very eager and hungry ducks, and Morgana got her very first warm, freshly made cotton candy.
We also got to see the ballet show on the Pantomime Theater. The show was really pretty and well danced, and it really feels wonderful and special to see it, remembering Pjerrot, Harlekin and Columbine from when I was little and very excited to visit Tivoli once every summer.
Today, we'll go to a birthday......
In the middle of the visit and Copenhagen in April, you just HAD to see these socks! It has felt like a very, very long time, knitting 6 identical socks, but I do think the result is good.

On Wednesday night I got to the airport to pick up my guest as planned. I had to wait a bit, but used the time wisely.
Yesterday wasn't too tired, which I appreciated. Morgana came to Lund, since she got invited for "afterwork" with my colleagues (how horrible is it to have a guest and then not being at home?), and going to the station, we found this very fun sewage covers looking like an old Swedish coin!
I had delicious macarons, brought directly from France! Yummy - so good.
After that, Morgana was introduced to an all time favorite in the Danish film history: The Olsen gang blowing up the Royal Theater to music. This scene is just amazing!
What can I say? It's extremely nice having her. Almost like an extra niece! Looking forward to a nice weekend.

First a small disclosure. I made this post last night. Since I do like new posts on the blog in the morning.....
The photo of my blanket is real enough - it reached a size with all the yellow that makes is big enough to actually be used as a blanket while crocheting. I LOVE that! Soft and warm, but really stinking from the spinning oil. I guess I'll just have to live with that until it's done and I can get to wash it.
Today will probably mostly be me being tired. Around midnight, Morgana will land and stay for a few days. I can't wait to showing her Copenhagen!
I'll keep you updated.

Ikke de sidste / Not the last ones
Oh well. More socks. These are for a nephew. More are coming up that you need to see together with these!
When this lump of socks is done, I've made 11 pairs this year. Then it's time for a small break. Can I even exist without socks? I'm starting to doubt it.......

Den lille havfrue / The little mermaid
Next weekend, I'll be showing around in Copenhagen.I'm really looking forward to that!
The very big (tiny) main attraction that everyone knows, is the famous little mermaid.
And here is the knitted version. Why not? Kids should get a little traumatized one way or another...... They might just as well look cute getting there!

Absolut ikke strikket / Absolutely not knitted
Yesterday, I spent a lot of the day finishing the blanket for my niece. You have to use a day at home like that, because suddenly a month will have passed without too many days without things to do, and then I'll need to get going!
The occasion is her confirmation. I had some lining left from her hoodie - just enough for a small blanket, why it became the lining of the blanket as well.
The front is partly a bundle of patchwork-fabric, partly something from my stash.
The squares are not at all the same size, but I'm still happy with it. This is not the "real" gift, and I do think she will like it, although it's not patchwork-enthusiast-perfect.
At least she will be incredibly relieved, since the poor child still believes she will receive a pair of home-sewn Fjällräven pants from me. She can stick to that believe. It is almost impossible to keep something secret from her, so if she happens to get on track to the real present, it won't be easy......

Livet / Life
You know you haven't been home enough, when it really surprises you that a cactus "suddenly" looks like this.
I've had these creeps once before - took forever to get rid of them! This time I really don't care. I would rather have a younger one from my friend. This is not just any cactus, you know! The first one was handed down from my father's aunt. It got a lot of babies, and this very cactus is a couple of generations younger.
Hopefully, the next cactus will have flowers?

Hjerter / Hearts
The dress which went on weekend with me, got started well. I managed to knit a total of 2 hearts! It will need around 5-6 hearts before it's long enough, so there is still some knitting to do.
The pattern really looks nice and clear in cotton/linen, and it's very pretty and a bit shiny.
Hopefully this weekend will come with a bit more time for knitting?

Jeg er begyndt at tro på foråret! / I started believing in spring!
I spend quite some time here staring at the present day-temperature! Maybe even a bit more than earlier, since the expected temperature cannot be trusted until the day is well underway.
But with THIS many yellow stripes I guess spring is here to stay?
I really don't trust spring until after the 1st of May (which means all my patients on profylactic medicine are not allowed to stop yet!), but I guess something is working.

Musikkens Hus
This weekend, I went to Aalborg. For a family visit as earlier, but this time visiting my lovely uncle and aunt, who would be worthy candidates for a price of kindness, hospitability and just amazingness. They are 83 years old both of them, but that is not really bothering them.
On Saturday, we went down into the city, and this time I got to see "Musikkens Hus", which was finished not too long ago.
The building is made from concrete. Since Aalborg is a city of concrete. This makes everything gray.
Bygningen er ret fantastisk. Bare trappen inde i huset!
The building is rather amazing. For instance the staircase inside the house! Made from soft-as-silk concrete, it winds its way up through the house towards the concert hall.
Down in the basement on the bathroom, things are pretty amazing, too. An incredible number of mirrors! This really confuses you a bit when looking for the exit.
I really loved the staircase. Here is another photo, taken from a longer distance!
It is a fantastic building. Unfortunately, the concert hall wasn't open, but I'm saving that for another time.
If you happen to pass Aalborg, please swing by the harbor and enjoy the houses and the views!

Til manden der har alt / For the guy who has everything
Mønsteret finder du her.
Super Mario is fun. Actually.
Today's pattern is something classical Super Mario.
Must be the vest for the guy who has everything!
(The photo was borrowed from Ravelry. I do believe it is on purpose that his head is not shown.....)
The pattern can be found here.

I gang / Started up
It's not something I do a lot, but I actually know how to sew, too. Had to take out my sewing machine, since I need to make a small blanket!
When I knitted the hoodie for my niece, she picked the fleece-lining herself. I had plenty left. Actually, there was so much left that it can become a really nice little blanket. She LOVES blankets, and since her confirmation is coming up, I guess I need to sew it now if I'm ever to get it done!
It's not very complicated. Just squares with the fleece as lining. But I'm very positive about it and I guess she'll like it.
Just need to let the sewing machine stand on the table......

Kommende kjole / Upcoming dress
Faldt lige over det i skabet.
This weekend comes with a family-visit, and I needed to bring a nice knitting project.
Lately, it's mostly one of the small girls in our family who received something knitted, so now I think it's little Miss T2's turn!
The pretty dress is from a magazine, and the yarn is cotton/linen from garnudsalg. I just happened to find it in the closet. I really like the color, and the yarn feels very nice and soft. Furthermore, I really think she needs something not pink from me......

Marts i striber / March in stripes
Pludselig skinner solen lidt ekstra.
I cheated a bit this Wednesday, and had crocheted a bit ahead. Shouldn't have done that! Tuesday turned out to be a bit warmer as well, so I ended up with 2 yellow stripes in a row! But that is how spring weather is. Suddenly the sun is shining a little extra. (Who am I to complain?)
But here you have all of March - from the red thread up. It's not that we had a lot of temperature variation, but fortunately it is a while back since I used the dark green. Looking forward to April with more yellow!
