Even though the color really stinks, you can see that the end of the Temple flower is drawing near. The tiniest leaves are done soon, and that means that I will be casting off and making sleeves very soon.
Can't wait to seeing it done! There are plenty of stuff to knit afterwards - besides all the pairs of socks I need to make, there is a request for a baby-jacket. Oh well - I would like to make something for me some time also!

I went to Jorungarn, my local yarn-shop, to attend the birthday-celebration.
It was so nice! Cake and a sale, and they continue celebrating tomorrow.
On the way home, I bought some flowers for the balcony. Sure looks nicer with pots and flowers!

IKEA
I lived in the new apartment so long, and I feel so much at home, that I needed to do something on the balcony. Well - everyone else have pots and flowers and stuff out there, while I had NOTHING on the wall!
So my bike and I went to IKEA. It's been a very long time since I visited last time! But you can always find something useful, right?
In the kitchen-section I found stuff for the balcony. Pots for knives and forks on a rod. They do look perfect for flowers, I think! A tiny lamp made it perfect and increased the "hygge"-factor about 200%.
Bare kigge ud i luften.
This is how it looks like in the dark.
After this spring and summer, when I was so busy and really had a hard time sleeping, my need for sleep just increased a lot. It's really nice to do nothing sometimes. Not painting. Not moving. Not tidying op. Just stare into empty space. I guess a need for activity will re-appear at some point?

Skål! / Cheers!
Fabric for curtains in the pink room almost attacked me in a crafts store. Pretty light brown with dark red spots here and there that will go well with the pink walls!
The funny thing? The pattern is labels from wine bottles. That's funny!
The sales-lady asked if I tasted all of them. I haven't. But now I know where to get my inspiration! (When the curtains are done and hung up. You know.)

Markmus / Fieldmouse
Ekstra lange i str. 45. Dybt suk.
In my project "get started and knit those socks you promised to make!!!!!" I have started socks for my almost 15 year-old nephew. Extra long and extra large. Deep sigh.
One of them is done, and the colors are really nice, I think, even though it's just brown and black. The brown is called field-mouse and has a lot of shades.
The cast-on is and Estonian thing with knots that I learned in June. So these socks are spiced up a bit, although I bet my nephew doesn't care!

Safari njema
The headline is Swahili and means "Happy trails". Today my Sister and Co. are leaving for the US. This Sunday, they had a goodbye-visit. It was so nice! We played Nintendo (and I won!), had pizza and enjoyed some really nice hours.
A skein of yarn was wound as well. Just because it's so funny!
After months of packing, worrying, saying goodbye and now a month with the entire family living in a suitcase, I actually think it will be very good for them to start saying "Hello" in Ann Arbor and start doing what they have been looking so much forward to! (I DID offer the kids a stay with me. No interest!)
So - have a wonderful journey! I can't wait to visiting you in Ann Arbor! I promise to order a little yarn, so you will have a warning that Moster is coming soon......

Varm orm / Warm worm
I børnebøgerne - ja. Der kan de være nok så nuttede!
I dit æble? Nej.
Worms are - ahem - regarded with some skepticism!
Are they cute at all? In children's books - yes. There, they can be very cute!
In your apple? No. On the ground? Well - if you don't have to touch it!
This worm is really cute! It's a nice scarf. Knit it for a kid, or keep it for yourself.......

Vejret er koldere / The weather is cooler
It's not only colder, but we have some gigantic showers every now and then! Yesterday the sun was shining while it was raining really hard, and here at Frederiksberg, we suddenly had a beautiful, double rainbow!
The cooler weather also means that my nephews little girl gets to use, what I knit. The little baby surprise jacket is spot on in size right now (but it was really good I made the sleeves a bit longer!), but the hat is almost too small. Either that, or she REALLY needs to learn to keep her head still!
She also uses the blanket. It's perfect right now. All summer I worried that it was too thick! She really likes it. Even though she hides her positive feelings quite well on this photo!
I have to knit another baby blanket soon. Another one of my nephews will be a dad in spring, so now it's all beginning with babies everywhere!

I ambulatoriet / In the out-patient clinic
Denne her læge prøver at lave en sej historie.
Summer-vacation is definitely over, but it's actually quite nice being back to work....... Most patients are bigger than this guy, who suddenly took a walk across our floor one day! Now it's not every day you meet a millipede in a Danish hospital (fortunately!) so after admiring it quite a lot, it was set free again!
This week I had a very nice talk with a patient. What do you do, when you're only 8 years old and already have scars on your body after operations? This doctor tries to make up a cool story.
"Well! I can see you fought a ninja-doctor!" Child: "Yes! - A ninja-doctor with a samurai-sword! He stabbed me and I passed out for like 30 seconds, but then I got him!"
Working in a children's department is the best job ever!

Hjem / Home
During the last couple of days I slowly started feeling at home in my new apartment. Why does things like that take so long?
Maybe it helped painting the windows white. Maybe it helped remembering where to put some of my dvd's, thus releasing some space in a closet. Maybe it was my very first bath in the new, dark bathroom that hadn't been totally cleaned since it's still being reconstructed. Maybe it's time.
It definitely is nice, though!

One of my colleagues defended her Ph.D. yesterday. I worked quite a lot with her, and she is a very gifted and sensible person. She is a knitter. Need I say more?
She asked a lot about my book with Estonian lace, so of course she should have one of those as a gift. Together with a skein of real Haapsalu yarn!
Strangely enough, no-one else gave her a gift like this...... (But she was very happy with it!)

Halvvejs / Halfway
The temple flower is going really well. It's growing a lot, and it's really nice to find out that something so troublesome the first time, can be really easy second time around.
I only need another 2 rows of leaves before it's done. Maybe it will be done before they travel abroad?
I guess it will be mailed anyway. The suitcases are full already.......

Sherlock
It's not that I know the series, but I heard from a trustworthy source that the new BBC Sherlock Holmes show is great. Even though it is set in the present!
There is something with a tapestry and some shooting and a smiley. I guess you know this better than I do!
Anyway - now you can have your very own Sherlock Holmes pillow! I bet it would look good on the couch!

Meget lange, meget varme / Very long, very warm
Ca. halvanden måned for sent!
The birthday-socks for my brother-in-law are finally done. About a month and a half too late! Since he is also going to COLD Michigan, the new wish (from the entire family) is that the socks should be long.
So most of them will have socks with stripes from now on, since a single skein of wollmeise is not enough for semi-knee-long socks!
On my leg you can really see, how long they are. Made with needles size 2.5 mm, and I used a total of 175 grams of yarn.
That's something!
Now I'm 4 pairs of socks behind. Back to work.......

Aalborg
Thursday-Friday I went to Aalborg to visit my uncle and aunt. They are the sweetest people, and it was so nice. Since I complained how I had seen plenty of Rold Forest, but not much of Aalborg, they took me for a few tours of the town.
We went inside Utzon's house, where there was an exhibition of lamps, which made the shadows look like trees. NOT the kind of lamp to use in little children's rooms at night! (Can you see, how that tree looks like a troll?)
Alt i alt spændende!
The house is really interesting and pretty. They also had quite a lot information about the opera-house in Sydney. All in all very exciting!
We saw the harbor too, of course. With the new house of music.
The next day I was to see "the singing trees"! Behind the congress-hall they have a starting forest with trees planted by the artists who performed, and when you push the button, you can hear, how they perform!
Selvfølgelig fandt jeg så Backstreet Boys. For jeg var jo i Aalborg for at høre dem i 2005............
Of course I found Backstreet Boys. I actually went to Aalborg to hear them in 2005..........
I also lured my uncle and aunt to see the Garnudsalg shop. Just because I could! It WAS Friday, you know, and I happened to be in Aalborg.
It was nice! Pretty big and a bit confusing. Once more a lot of people, although it's more spacy now. I also bought a tiny little bit. Aren't you supposed to do that?
So now the last weekend of my vacation started. Without a toilet. WITH the workmen. I guess it's good I have plans other places than here in the apartment!

Tempelblomst 2
This spring, something happened. My temple-flower was finished (and I can't wait to start using it again!) and my sister liked it! So much, that ever since, she has been longing for one herself.
"It's COLD in Michigan, you know!"
So that's why, for the first time in about 20 years, I've started knitting something for my sister, which is not socks or scarfs.
It will be a very nice one made with Rowan Felted tweed and 2 lace-yarns: One is Madelinetosh Prairie, the other Fyberspates Scrumptious lace.
It's actually growing quite fast. It is so much more fun doing this second time, for some reason!
The color is like the top photo, very, very dark blue, and the 3 strands of wool match so well, that you would never guess it's not just a single strand.
It's really nice having time for knitting again!

En dejlig dag / A lovely day
(Meget velopdragne!) Øverst er det Marvin.
Yesterday I traveled north to visit Johanne. Since all kids started school by now, we had plenty of time for enjoying the company and the family's very cute, 3 months old puppies.
They were really active and happy when I came, but still stayed away from yarn. (Very well behaved!) On top it's Marvin.
This teddy-bear is called Isbjørn (Polar bear) and was not only incredibly naughty, but also really good at looking very, very innocent.....
After an hour they calmed down, although they still had fun stealing each others stuff and fighting for fun. (Actually they behaved a lot like a couple of human siblings would do!)
Til aftensmad var der gigant-burger. Smagte godt!
For dinner we had giant-burger. Really good!
After a lovely, long day with knitting, dogs and really good company, I went back to (a bit more contained by now) chaos in my apartment. Did I mention that I can't wait until the bathroom is done and the work-men will stop coming?

Sismofyt!
My very modest (cough!) stash fortunately held wollmeise in these exact colors, so I didn't even have to by new yarn. The socks are made with needles size 2.5 mm, and I used 130 grams in total, which is somewhat more than usual. But the are not only warm but also long!
Even though I knitted so loosely that I several times had one needle fall out in my bag, they are still quite tight.
You can just squeeze them past the heel. Or - I can, and then my niece DEFINITELY can as well!
When they are on, the fit is perfect.
So now I hope the tiny toes can stay warm during the cold Michigan winter!
The socks were actually fun to make and didn't take too long, but all the pattern on the leg is not something I really want to do a lot of, since they are so tight.

The birthday socks for my niece are done! Only "slightly" delayed for around 2.5 weeks.......
She wanted stars, her name, stripes and specific colors. Pink, neon-green and black.

I skole igen / Back to school
Most schools in Denmark start today after the summer break. This means the bicycle-paths will be completely filled with people again - but fortunately, I have another week of vacation!
When the little ones sit there - open to another year of wisdom - it may be a risk that the fingers get busy with other things.
Perhaps these cute little dogs for fingers or pencils?
If you absolutely don't want your child to learn anything, you could knit several......

Sydpå i weekenden / Going south for the weekend
This weekend was spent in the nicest possible company on Falster, in a summer-house belonging to a member of the Sewing circle.
It was so beautiful and peaceful, and the local citizens (you can see one on the top photo) were generally peaceful, although you had no wish to share your bed with them.......
Jeg var i vandet! For første gang i år.
I went bathing! First time this year. It was nice and cold and there were some big waves in contrast to Friday evening, when the water was so still the moon could make a path across.
There was candle-lights and "hygge". Oh well - we had rain and storm as well, but then we just knitted and watched movies! Now I'm not as far behind concerning sock-knitting as I was. Thank you for a lovely weekend!

Nyt, gammelt skab! / New, old closet!
I've been so fortunate as to inherit my sister and brother-in-law's old, giant closet! It fits nicely in my living-room, and it stands were it stands. It's not something to move!
Nice, don't you think?
Det er allerede blevet fyldt. Med alt mit stof! Det har jeg sandelig også meget af. Stor overraskelse!
It's already filled. With all my fabric! I happened to have a lot of that as well. Big surprise!
It's really nice, being able to see everything. Now I just need to sew something as well........
By the way. All the boxes from my moving are empty now. Not, that everything found it's final place, but it sure helps!

Nå ja.... / Oh well......
Since he is moving to the US, I had some return-yarn from my youngest nephew. This is the "square" that he really did his very best to crochet so nicely.
What I'll do with it? Unfortunately it won't get a place hanging on my wall, but this will be the remembrance-wall. Now it's unraveled and turned into nice wollmeise again......

Sidste nevø på overnatning / Last nephew for sleep-over
Now my sister's oldest son (14 now, 15 in a moment!) has visited for a sleep-over too. Of course he also needed a good dose of culture, so we took off by visiting the "Arbejdermuseum" (Worker's museum).
I've never been there before, but only heard good things about it, and it was so interesting! You could see authentic apartments, trying to imagine how a family with 3+ kids had been sleeping in such a tiny living room....
Der var også andre sjove ting. F.eks. denne strikkede badedragt!
Man strikker altså utroligt godt til Dr. Who.
There were other fun things as well. For instance this knitted bathing-suit! It's easy to imagine how it grew 5 sizes after being put in water......
With the cultural stuff done, we went to the movies and saw "Guardians of the Galaxy". Really fun film with our kind of humor! Afterwards we went home and spend the time on games and more films, not only last night, but also this morning. Dr. Who is just great for knitting.
It was just as well with the relaxation, since he was going home today to celebrate his birthday with 2 of his friends. They were going to the "Climbing forest", a place I never visited before either.
It looked really fun, although I had a nice time watching! Here it's my youngest nephew on a DANGEROUS route for kids!
The big kids crawled through this car, among other things. It looked like the Weasley family's car from Harry Potter. (If it was the one, it was tamed!)
Do you understand why I willingly kept my feet on the ground, encouraging the climbers?
