Maybe it's a bit too much using a photo of a sleeping baby (in a very pretty dress. Knit by me. Pretty dress for a beautiful baby!) when I'm actually going to work today, but still.
The thought of 6 days off from work is marvelous!
I also had the opportunity of relaxing, not only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but even yesterday! Great company, time for knitting and talk. Somehow it makes the rain and cold outside more bearable when time can be spend like that!
I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday out there!

Til påskeæggene / For the Easter eggs
If it should happen that you eat a boiled egg during Easter time, then have a look here.
These tiny, crochet hats are really cute, don't you think?
Quick and easy and bound to make the people around you happy!

Flere striber / More stripes
(Hans første par strømper i min "strømpeklub")
These socks were done in exactly the right time, since I'm leaving for a birthday party in 5 minutes. My niece's husband. (His first pair of socks in my "sock club")
Once more, it's left-overs from my wollmeise-box. I like them.
They weigh 125 grams, and are really straight-forward.
So what's next? Yet another pair of striped birthday-socks......

Now, that the weather is a bit warmer, it's really great with my new apartment. One day, it was so warm that I actually sat for 5 minutes in my balcony, and I can't wait to start using it for summer!
The backyard is new to me too, and like last year, there are people looking after the flowers. It is so pretty coming down to get my bike and then it looks like this!
I'm looking forward to seeing this continuing during the summer. Without having to spend my time painting and moving, you know. It's going to be a pleasure!
I morges skinnede solen.
This morning, the sun was shining. Actually, my blackout-curtains are better at keeping the sun out than the door to the next room. I love the spring-sun!
(I only hope it will also be "spring" at work this evening without too much snot and fever....)

Farvel-agtigt / Goodbye-ish
It has been some very strange days, because in a very small while I change job and start at a (to me totally new!) different hospital and begin 2 years of stays here and there if everything falls into place.
It will be really great only working in a single place, and even greater not having to work Friday evenings so often!
Last Friday, I had a HUGE surprise from a family who brought a gigantic bouquet of flowers. Actually, it's still here, looking very pretty, and the lilies are in bloom now, so it's even more beautiful than ever!
How lucky can you get?
So lucky that I'm even having an Easter vacation this year!!!!! (I'm going to Jutland, seeing the new baby in the family. I can't wait!)

In order to say goodbye in a civilized way, I brought Easter eggs for work, 2 days in a row. You know, ENOUGH Easter eggs! I feel quite sure that everyone supposed to taste did taste. (Including me!)
I still have 2 more work-days to go, but with less colleagues.
If I bring Easter eggs on those occasions, they will be for private use......
Ih, hvor jeg glæder mig!)Last Friday, I had a HUGE surprise from a family who brought a gigantic bouquet of flowers. Hanne Falkenberg
On Tuesday evening, I was fortunate enough to go hear a talk by Hanne Falkenberg at Sommerfuglen.
I wanted to buy a ticket myself, but I was too slow. Then someone with a ticket happened to get ill, and I got to join. It was so nice! (I've never been to those arrangements in Copenhagen before.)
After the talk, there was the possibility of looking at and feeling all the different models. They were so pretty, although it seemed wrong and a bit naughty to have all those sweaters in a messy pile.
Der var den fineste sommerbluse! Jeg kunne godt lige se mig selv i denne her..... (Bedre billede her)
I found a very pretty summer-top! I could totally use this..... (Better photo here)
But there was the price-issue, you know. Even with 10% off, I still need to think hard about whether I really, REALLY need this? But it's still so pretty.
All the models by Falkenberg are really great looking, fitting well and knitted in an interesting way. I guess everyone should make one of these at some point, but I have 50 pairs of socks and a Bohus-sweater to knit first, I guess!

Jeg troede, jeg var i god tid / I thought I was totally ahead of my time
Engang.
Pind 2,5 mm, rib derudaf, str.
At min nieces knap ny-slåede mand holder fødselsdag. (Heldigvis lidt mindre)
It went really well with the sock-knitting while on vacation. Actually, it went so well that I REALLY wanted to make a turbo-point by starting another pair of socks for one of my nephews celebrating his birthday in the middle of April. You know - in an entire month! (How awesome would that be?)
The socks are from my left-over box, but I really like the colors.
It's just plain ribbing. I haven't really found the mood for very complicated socks yet this year, but I guess I will. At some point.
Needles size 2.5 mm, a lot of ribbing, very large socks and a total of 140 grams of yarn.
What do I discover, in the middle of the second sock? That my nieces close-to-very-new husband is celebrating his birthday. THIS SUNDAY! So I really need to be fast with another pair...... (A bit smaller, fortunately)

Well. It was incredibly easy finding a gift for my nephew's teacher! Just took a small, nice trip around Copenhagen with a friend and a trip to my closet (= yarn stash), and there it was!
Lovely color-changing yarn from Hjelholt, found in Sommerfuglen. It is soft and pretty, and there is enough for a scarf or such.
Wollmeise was found (surprisingly!) in my closet. I guess she can use a pair of socks like that?
The Marianne Isager book in English was found on a sale. A book by a Danish designer can be quite exotic and different in the US, so it's definitely going as well!
I think she will like it. From one knitting-nerd to another!

En skøn opgave / A great task
Gerne i farver.
My youngest nephew has pretty amazing teacher, Ms Beech, that I believe is much loved by the entire class. She started them finger-knitting (for charity), at the moment they are collection maple-juice for syrup, and for Halloween, she always changes her house into something scary and let them come visit her and get scared in a nice way.
Oh well. She's also knitting. (OF COURSE!)
When the school year ends, she is going to have a gift - that I'm supposed to buy! (Yahoo!) My sister thought that I might be able to find some yarn for her? I'm SO going to shop something wonderful and Danish. Something colorful. I actually tried to make my nephew find out everyday what color of shirt she was wearing in order to find her favorite color.
Let me put it this way. That is NOT something of interest for 9 year old boys! But one day she did wear a pink shirt, and she complimented my red-orange Noro hoodie, so I'm quite sure I'll find something!

Den er meget, meget dejlig / It's very, very lovely
Not long before my vacation, my "Faith moves mountains" sweater was finished. You haven't really seen it, except on a broomstick, so here is a bit about that specific sweater.
Everything is in rib-pattern, but on the front and the sleeves, there is a triangle of a slightly different pattern, which is fun and pretty.
It's made in a combination of wool and silk/mohair, which makes it incredibly light and soft, and not too hot.
The pattern is (as usual when the designer is Annette Danielsen) really well written, but it's ever so boring sewing all the pieces together afterwards. But it makes it very straight without twists.
The color is my favorite, so no complains on that subject either!

Garn og mønstre / Yarn and patterns
While in Ann Arbor, I visited the 2 yarn shops in town. (Oh well. Also the big craft-stores, Jo-Ann and Michael's. But THAT was not a place to buy yarn! For me.)
My brother-in-law was kind enough to drive me to Ophir Crafts, a shop I visited in October as well. Back then, I also bought yarn. That I didn't knit yet.
There was some very pretty multicolor yarn that I had to buy, and then 2 skeins of uni-colored yarn that fit well. It's very soft and pretty and local wool. Same type as last time. (It's called Shepherd's Wool and it's from Stonehedge Fiber Mill)
The owner made a remark that my "husband" was very supporting about me buying yarn. But then I explained that the reason for his support was probably because he is my brother-in-law and doesn't have to live with my yarn......
The other shop, "Busy Hands", was one that I didn't visit before. They had plenty of stuff - also non-yarn things, and it's a very nice and cozy shop. There was plenty of Malabrigo, which is always very nice, but I ended up with a skein of sock yarn in a bright yellow. For socks for me. (I actually am about to have quite a few socks to knit for me!)
Min søde svoger kørte mig også forbi Barnes and Nobles.
My very sweet brother-in-law also took me by Barnes and Noble. How I LOVE large, American book-shops!
Like last time, they seemed to have an endless amount of knitting books, and I didn't even look in half of them.
But I did buy the best two books. Actually, they are 2 Noro-books, which may be a bit silly, but the patterns are really nice, and Noro-books are not something you can feel sure to find again.
Fortunately, the patterns work with other color-changing yarn as well, but all patterns look good with many colors, and the projects are really nice. definitely a great thing to buy!
I also bought magazines. The last two Vogue-magazines are quite good, actually (sometimes they are terribly boring) and Piecework is always fun to read. The Knitter's Magazine had a great pattern.
This pattern! I really think the combination of cables and mosaic is a stroke of genius!
Maybe I should knit it some time? First, though, I have to make quite a few socks, baby's clothes and a cardigan for my sister-in-law......

For once, I brought a lot of yarn when going to the US. All the green, yummy Noro Kama yarn that I had bought in Lyngby.
In the yarn shop, I had seen a quite simple sweater in Noro-yarn. The only pattern was some cables, and I really liked that. Noro has so many colors that you don't need a lot of pattern to go with it.
Fortunately, I own this book with patterns of all kinds of top-down sweaters in all types of yarn, so I brought that one as well.
And so I used every spare moment to knit (it was a great vacation!) and from Sunday until Saturday, I knit this sweater, which is totally perfect and lovely.
My gauge was a bit in between the once I could choose from in the book, so the sweater is kind of its own. But everything went well, and after a nice wash it's perfect in width and length.
I put cables in between the raglan increases and in the side seams, but apart from that, it's just very plain and knit on needles size 6 mm.
I used 585 grams of yarn, so I didn't have much left of the 12 skeins I bought!
The sweater is so nice, that I actually wore it home in the plane. IMAGINE if my suitcase got lost! Oh the terror.......

Bare fordi.
One of the finest and prettiest things in spring is the blooming of daffodils coming out of the dirt.
I really love how you can buy them and have them blooming inside your living-room for a while.
Today's pattern is a knitted daffodil.
Just because.

Hjemme igen / Back home
It is really nice coming home and unpacking. This time, I had been looking extra forward to it, since I knew, I was going to bring home my 2 new bungee-chairs.
The round one that I bought in a web-shop, is really great to sit in (and always popular with my visitors!) and I had already seen the square ones at my sisters and knew, how nice they are.
As you can see, the old and the new one are matching in colors. The 2 new ones can be folded and stowed away, which is extra practical.
It's just a square frame with broad elastics woven together. Very simple and smart!
They didn't fit in my suitcase, but instead we made a "bag" out of a storage-box, bubble-wrap and plenty of sticky-tape. I just had to pay for the extra luggage.
When I got it back in Copenhagen, there was extra sticky-tape! It had been opened for examination. But it did look kind of suspicious, when you just saw it........
Back home, on my balcony, the daffodils are in bloom. So pretty and nice!
My birds are happy, fat and well-kept. My old neighbor is worth her weight in gold!
Bl.a. de her forme til at lave bacon-skåle!
There were also other important things to buy. For instance these bacon-bowl-things! You put on bacon and bake it in the oven, and afterwards you can bake the bowl with different fillings.
Actually very funny and smart, if you ask me, although I don't think I'll be eating bacon daily.
I also stumbled across the baby-clothes department and bought some for the 2 little girls in our family. The big one (Big? But she still feels brand new!) turns 1 year old soon. I also bought yummy stuff from Cherry Republic in Ann Arbor and a few mystery-books from a wonderful little bookshop, only selling mysteries and crime books!
I also did buy disgusting candy for my work. I don't want to disappoint them!
I also bought some knitting-stuff, but you'll see that another day.

Dejlig uge / Lovely week
And then it's the last day in the US this time around. It has been an amazing week! I even finished knitting my green sweater in just a week, and it's so lovely and soft, so I have no choice than to be perfectly happy with this week......
Yesterday, I visited another yarn shop. It's called "Busy Hands" and has more things than yarn, but I did find some. Their window-display showed both sheep, yarn and St. Patrick's Day, that is today, I think.
Very cute!
Min søster fandt tatoveringer til mig. Som jeg selvfølgelig ikke kunne leve uden.....
My sister found tattoos for me. That I couldn't live without, of course.......
Last night, we went to the movies to watch SpongeBob SquarePants (that everybody could agree to watch). It was so much fun, AND my nephew caught a teddy-bear in the game.
Once more, I succeeded in packing the suitcase. My new elastic chairs are also packed and ready to go home with me.
Now all I need to do is driving the kids totally crazy, so that they wont miss me too much.......
