Først den smukke, smukke solnedgang, som I bare måtte drømme om i går. Der er sejlet en hel masse i båd på Inle Lake det sidste døgn, og det har simpelthen været så fantastisk!
Tonight I'm at a new hotel with (a little) better wi-fi. So this will be a photo-spam!
First the beautiful, beautiful sunset that you could only try to imagine yesterday. Since then, I have been sailing for hours on the Inle Lake, and it has been truly amazing!
The hotel was amazing. Just amazing. Everything built on poles out in the water....... And with a pretty sunrise!
Lake Inle is GIGANTIC, and all traffic is by boat. The local fishermen have developed a very special rowing-technique, controlling the oar using their leg in order to being able to use the hands for other stuff. It looked crazy. Especially, since they were balancing on the little platform at the very end of the boat all the time! (We Danes sat very still on our chairs in the middle of our boats......)
The first village we saw on the lake, was solely built on water. This, for instance, was the supermarket, I guess. Of course you park your boat by the stairs. How on earth would you else manage getting there?
Tror dog, væveriet skal have sit eget indlæg. Det var vildt fascinerende!
We visited a few factories or workshop. The most amazing thing was the silk weaving factory! I felt like a kid in a candy-store...... I was really glad I brought extra money for that visit, and I have really been looking forward to it! Some of my colleagues felt regret over having bought too little. I didn't feel that way.....
I do think the weaving factory deserves it's own post. It was so fascinating!
We also met women from the Kayan tribe, living a little north of Lake Inle. Here they sat, weaving and sewing. It was really special but also a bit weird seeing them, and it didn't look too comfortable. They seemed happy enough, though......
There was also a girl. About 11 years old, I think, who kindly answered everyone's stupid question. I showed her my knitting and a sock, and it didn't seem like she ever saw a sock before! She didn't quite get the "for the feet" thing, until I put it on......
She "only" had 9 rings around her neck, and it wasn't really stretched yet. But still she had trouble bending her neck.
I guess this will be all for today. For now, at least! I'm rather filled up with all the impressions and really need to sleep after the formidable trip to the weaving factory!
