Juleaften / Christmas Eve

We had a really nice Christmas Eve yesterday. We started by taking a nice walk, and then came home to gløgg (the Danish type. I brought ingredients from Denmark. I REALLY had a lot of luggage this time!) and sweets. As you can see, the dog shirt was actually worn on this joyful day!

The Christmas tree got the final touch. With candle lights! It's fun, how different American and Danish Christmas trees look. This one has no space between the branches and looks like the Mickey Mouse Christmas movie, but that is how they look here. It was beautiful!
My niece lit the candles. She was a bit nervous. What if it burned down the house?

We walked around the tree and had our gifts before dinner. Which was really nice! I loved not having to walk singing around the tree with a stomach that's bursting.
Everyone had gifts - including Bailey, who quickly understood that the gifts might hold something delicious, and therefore wanted to help opening the gifts and see everything.
Everybody had a nice time - and my nephew here even smiled for the camera! He is home from college, and it was nice seeing him. He is now living in another city away from his family.
Christmas Eve ended with a lot of the family going to church at 9 p.m., while I went to bed. The tired college student also went to bed. I guess he doesn't usually sleep that much.
So now I sit here - all awake - while the rest of the family sleep. As soon as I'm done writing this post, I'd better knit a bit more on the eternity socks for my youngest nephew. The first one is almost done!
