Poor Amanda now has 2 sleeves! THAT is some serious progress.....
I cannot really face the thought of knitting the yoke with all the incredible amount of cables on every 4. row. More than the 50 cables of the body! At least, the stitch number decreases from here.
Now, Amanda is ready for a lovely winter with Matador, and then I REALLY hope the poor cardigan will actually be done before the 5 year anniversary........

Some time last year, I cut the pattern for a top I wanted to test. Some idea with cutting the fabric obliquely.
This year, I decided to actually sew the top! Unfortunately, I had no idea what pattern it was or how the finished top was supposed to look. Luckily, you can go quite far if you know what is front, back and sleeves......
Now it's done! A couple of months after I cut the fabric, which, by the way, was bought in Myanmar and looks like a million dollars, but is actually just cotton.
The neck was very wide in front - as explained, I have no idea how it was supposed to be! - but it had some elastic band, which went well. Then we can discuss the timing, sewing a summer top when summer is kind of gone......
Looking forward to using it next year!

Amanda has joined me on the train this past week, and the first sleeve is actually done! The second one is coming along, and I am incredibly happy with this......
It is going to be a very warm and pretty cardigan (once it's done!), although all the cables are really, really boring......
There was a mistake on the body - 2 cables going the wrong direction! I gathered my courage, cut a thread and corrected these cables. Didn't turn out perfect, but okay.
Well. Until I discovered how I "corrected" one of the cables to the same mistake as before. As you can see from the photo.
The third time almost turned out the same way, but fortunately, I was more awake this time!
This is how it looks after cutting and sewing, and I do think it's okay. Especially since it's under the sleeve!

Pokémon Go
One more, I accidentally promised my sister's kid a sweater each for winter.
The 11 year old want Pokémon, and prefers Eevee, so right now, I'm mentally preparing for that. I think there will be a row of pokéballs at the bottom, and found this pattern. Not too bad, eh? At least it could be used as a thinking-hat!
I will make with yarn from my stash, since - strangely enough! - I do have plenty of the DK Wollmeise for an emergency like this!

Frilørdag / Saturday off
I går skulle jeg ikke arbejde. Eller have gæster.
Yesterday, I wasn't working. Or had visitors planned. Or had plans of visiting someone. It ended up as one of those days with me doing exactly what I wanted, and I promised myself NOT to feel guilty about the stuff I didn't get around to doing. A very important detail.
With a day like this, I first went to the bookstore, exchanging a birthday gift for a knitting book, and then I went to Knitworks to have a look. Didn't really miss knitting festivals in my life right now (or new yarn!), but with this just around the corner, I went anyway.
The first booth I came across was by Sisse from "Nørkleriet". Here, you could have a photo taken with your favorite shawl!
I really wanted to buy Katrine's pattern books, and did find her models, but even though I asked here and there and went around all 3 rooms several times, I didn't succeed. Unfortunately. They are some very nice models!
While walking around, I met Charlotte Kaae, Pernille Skau, Signe Strømgaard and Louise Klindt. That was really nice and fun!
(Hotdog. Genialt!)
I didn't wear a single knitted thing, and I hadn't even brought my knitting, so I really kind of stood out on a knitting festival like this.
But then I bought a knitting tattoo from Signe. Helped a bit!
Well. It was nice and exciting, but home I went after grabbing lunch in the center. (Hotdog. Genius!)
At home, I used the last can of Christmas beer from last year to make "bird on a can". Had planned to do this for a while, and it tasted good!
A day like that is really great now and then.....

Wilma
I grå.
My oldest niece wished for a Wilma-vest for her birthday. A grey vest. I started planning shopping grey yarn, actually, until I was in the basement, looking for yarn for our gift-game. I discovered a big cone of grey, soft alpaca! That I forgot about..... Then I remembered the really lovely grey wool/cashmere that I bought in Beijing. Those two would be perfect together, and so I did a GAUGE-TEST! The size of the vest is depending on needle-size and gauge.
In the end, it was the Chinese yarn in combination with silk/mohair from garnudsalg, which I begged into my possession during the gift game. The combination is perfect in thickness and softness, made with slightly smaller needles than the pattern instructs.
After a wash and slight stretch, the vest was just perfectly sized. It's light (125 grams), super soft and really warm, and actually quite luxurious with this fiber combination!
The vest has arrived safely, so now I can show it here on the blog. It was a surprise so I couldn't show it before. It fits perfectly, although - to be honest - it looked like a kids vest. But it is a small, close-fitting thing in the pattern, so the size was actually just right.
It is simply amazing having a yarn stash this size, so that you don't really know what's in there, when you can get a great surprise like this, finding delicious yarn you forgot about!

It's not just the knitting festival - Fanø is just such a nice place!
We ate outside on the first evening. Under the roof while we watched the rain. Afterwards, we held our traditional yarn-gift-game.
The summer house was as pretty as they get. Build "outside" a tiny old house, which is kept at one end. The sea wasn't too far away, but we never went there. Had too much other stuff to do!
"Centrally in Sønder Ho" was the house with a market place. The central thing is an old joke. One of my first time on the knitting festival, Lene Holme Samsøe was explaining how she lived "centrally in Sønder Ho". This village is so small that you will miss the center if you blink, and I laughed so hard, because I don't believe the words "centrally" and "Sønder Ho" was ever used in the same sentence before.
Der var mere garnmarked - endda med musik! Fin folkemusik i Sønder Ho.
There were more yarn markets - even with music! Beautiful traditional music in Sønder Ho. In other places you could meet people in traditional outfits, but we never met them.
While waiting in line for the ferry, we had the fortune of seeing another great attraction - the seals!
They were very close and sooooo cute when they moved around on the sand.
I've seen a few far away before, but not this many or that close!
Gode!)
We didn't mind waiting in the line for 90 minutes. We had the seals, our knitting, lunch and great company!
It was so wonderful being on Fanø, and if you are close by sometime, please take a look. Knitting festival or not. (They have THREE yarn shops on the island! Good ones!)

Altså læser HELE opskriften inden man går i gang?
The socks for my niece, who turns 27 tomorrow, are finished and in the mail. The yarn is totally new for me to knit with; sock yarn with nettle fibres! It's incredibly beautiful and soft, actually, so she has something to look forward to.....
The pattern is this one by Cookie A. I forgot to read "the fine print", so the ankle part is a bit turned since I didn't move the beginning of the round. I wonder when you would ever do it? Reading the entire pattern before casting on?
Dansk garn, købt i Sverige.
They come on the feet easily, turned pattern or not. These are quite pretty socks, I think.....

Garnet / The yarn
Udenfor kunstladen stod denne fine cykel!
We bought yarn on Fanø. Of COURSE we bought yarn! We started in "Kunstladen"'s sale, where things went totally wrong for me. But the stuff I found was so nice! I got yarn for a few sweaters and some really great pattern books. Extremely cheap, just to make it greater!
Well. The rest of the weekend, I tried to really keep it low(er) with the buying.
Outside "Kunstladen" was this pretty bike!
Some of the yarn I bought, was this silk/wool in my favorite colors. Red, brown, orange and dark yellow. This will turn into something nice some time!
First, it needs to find a way to communicate with me so I will know, exactly how it will turn out.
In Sønderho, there was yarn from Nature's Luxury. This yarn is so yummy and has some totally amazing colors! The shop was new to me, but very tempting indeed.
Everything was hand dyed, delicious fibres, and they even had a very cute poodle.
On the way back, we went to see Jane. Just as nice as always! I bought quite a lot here. Partly because I needed to pay back the money I owed for food and the train ticket, and my friends wanted payment in wool. This makes sense to all knitters!
Janes dog is quite nice as well, though a bit annoying. If it doesn't get attention, it runs off with a skein of yarn, which actually is a very efficient way of catching attention! Because of this, it cannot run freely in the yarn shop, but we did get to meet it and say hi, which was nice!
The next days, there will be a bit more Fanø. I hope you manage.

Fall has come, and the geese have started going south.
They are quite obvious, both visual and in sound, and you can just guess what they're talking about. "I forgot my favorite flower!" "Are we there yet?" "Hey! We are supposed to go THAT way!"
So now you can knit your own little pet goose right here.

Saturday flew by! There were workshops. First about edges with Ruth Sørensen. She knows her stuff, and seeing all her beautiful works makes me want to knit Kauni so badly! (I guess I MIGHT be able to find some in my stash?)
In the afternoon, I learned how to knit Faroese shawls. I made 2 mini-shawls! It was actually fun, so I guess a Faroese shawl will be on the list of shawls I need in my life. The original Faroese yarn came home with me, so everything is ready!
Ligesom silke/uld i ens yndlingsfarver!
We were also at a yarn sale. Oh my, so much wonderful stuff! I bought "only 2 bags", but still holds the record for the weekend. Cashmere is hard to turn down. Just like silk/wool in your favorite colors! Everything for size 4 mm needles, making it go a bit faster, and then there really is no turning back.....
We also dyed yarn with indigo. THAT was fun! Amazing how the light green yarn came up and changed color.
Best thing? We have time to visit again today......
The evening went by with great food and "hygge". The yarn winder worked with a little help, although a screw had gone missing. Everybody is kind of tired, but it is wonderful how you can have a good time, although bedtime is quite early!
We also had time to knit quite a bit. It's been a lovely weekend so far, and it's great we have another day left!

Så ankom vi / Arrival
Alt gik perfekt i går!
Everything went perfectly yesterday! I left my job in time and arrived perfectly at the central station and the next train. I even had presents! This must be one of the prettiest mobile covers in the world. Featuring Marius.
On Fanø, the summer house waited with frikadelles. We had a lovely dinner under the roof with the sound of rain. It's wonderful knowing that we have an entire weekend together here!
The giftgame was bigger than ever! ONLY good stuff. Plenty for all 3 of us.
This tradition will be kept alive for years to come, I guess!
Now the workshops and good times are awaiting. Happy Saturday!

Så godt som klar / As good as ready
TO ÅR!!!!!! Åh, som jeg glæder mig!
Jeg er sådan cirka klar. Agtigt.
Today is the day to go west for the first knitting festival in 2 years. TWO YEARS!!!!!! Oh, how I've been looking forward to this!
I'm kind of ready. Ish.
The gifts for our yarn-gift-game are packed, at least! Good stuff inside. I can reveal that much. I can't wait to see Fanø again, the summer house and Ho strik. Of course we are going to visit Jane!
First step of planning this was getting Friday off. Which kind of succeeded. My colleague claims she gave me the day off. Apart from the outpatient clinic all morning. But if you're planned for both a day off and work, then unfortunately, work wins. Or what?
I do have time to catch the train, which is the most important thing.
The gift for my friend, whom we're visiting, was carefully bought in Lund on the way home yesterday. Then I forgot the beautiful linen yarn on the train. Really!
The yarn was for a lamp shade, and the skeleton of that shade was at my home. Now it will be given away with pink sock yarn. You can always use pink sock yarn!
I do hope the rest of the weekend will be smooth. I do hope there is internet. Otherwise, it will be a weekend of few words on this blog! But I guess it will work out.

The next socks are on their way. This time, a Cookie A. pattern. Maybe I'll work my way through the book eventually?
All the way through the leg, it went quite well. I was wondering why it sort of turned a bit. When I was more than halfway to the heel, I read the tiny sentence under the chart, that the first stitch moves 1 place for every 8 rows.
So now I invented a new pattern! I do hope the socks will be usable.....

Gaver mm. / Gifts and more
It was a really lovely birthday this Sunday, although I do think the new number in my age was more fun as a kid......
I never grow too old for a cake-lady, though, and we remembered to scream when cutting the throat! (No idea were this tradition comes from, but it's very Danish. Maybe the vikings?)
Hende her kom, og 8 personer mere, der alle var noget større end hende, så her var fyldt godt op.
Lille Frk.
This girl came, and 8 more persons, all quite bigger than her, so my place got filled up.
Little Miss T1 is old enough to find birthdays very funny, and THAT is just great! She was asleep when arriving and slept in her pram in the backyard (another Danish tradition dated back to the 1950's). When she woke up, I went to pick her up. When really waking up, her first words were "Is it your birthday?" Who cares if I'm getting older, then, when someone this cute attends my party?
Tak!
Mums, det bliver nogle fantastiske strømper, det her!
There were gifts, too! This arrived the next day, though, but is pure luxury! Bought at Tine's place (I really would like to visit her shop!) by my oldest niece. Thank you!
This will turn into some amazing socks!
I got beautiful, handmade earrings in great colors. I already started using them.
I also got a promise of a gift that I can look forward to! Not bad!
I also got the new Harry Potter book, which I'm looking forward to reading.
Finally, my nephew had been to a yarn shop! So I got yarn in the basic colors. A bit nerdy, perhaps. Looking forward to knitting in this yarn.
Monday evening was knitting at the movies. As much fun as always, and "Bridget Jones' baby" was really, really hilarious. Actually, some scenes were so much fun it was impossible to knit for laughing.
But that's okay, I guess........
