Noget til mig / Something for me
It was a lovely weekend, with time for looking at yarn and getting ideas!
So I had time to start on a sweater that I have been looking at for a long time. Last Christmas, I got yummy Malabrigo yarn from New York from my oldest niece, and when I went there in March, I made sure to buy some green and grey to match the pretty multi-color yarn.
So now I cast on for a Ravello! The yarn is a bit heavier, though, and the needles a larger size, but then it won't get too small..... Which is good!
At the same time, the Minecraft sweater for my nephew is taking up my mind. I just need to pull myself together and find or make a picture that will work........

Gryffindor
(Bare vent. Der kommer sikkert flere opskrifter!)
One of our physiotherapists at work is very pregnant.
She is expecting a little boy, and she is crazy about Harry Potter. (No, not crazy enough to call the baby Harry, I guess!)
So I have been thinking about how fun it would be to make some baby stuff with Harry Potter theme. So today's pattern is Gryffindor mittens. Red and gold and lions will work quite well with a boy, don't you think? (And get ready. There will be more patterns!)

Cakenhagen
Yesterday, I got one of my last birthday presents - a fantastic visit to Cakenhagen, which is a pastry inside Tivoli. They have a kind of "Afternoon Tea" arrangement, and my good friend had invited me there.
Oh my, for a table of cakes! It looked like what you see in the baking contests, but I have never seen this stuff in the real world.
Jamen altså - næsten for fin til at spise! (Ikke, at det skulle stoppe os, altså.)
You know - almost too pretty to eat! (We didn't let that stop os, though.)
(Uhm.....)
There were also delicious little bites of different cakes - a few with licorice. (Yum....)
I ended up with a plate like this. I didn't think it was over-filled, but after finishing it, I was totally fed up with cakes. Just thinking about more cake was too much!
But it was so delicious, and we sat there for a long time, drinking tea and coffee, knitting and talking. SUCH a nice day!
As a goodbye-present, we got this little guy. A cream puff. Impossible to bring in a bag, so I managed to eat him.
But seriously - last night, when watching "Danish Baking Contest" I ate - a CARROT!
I never had this much cake......

En god ide, men / A great idea, but
Næste projekt bliver dog noget i blød uld. Til mig.
On New Years Eve, I started a sweater for me. I liked the idea! Beautiful green and grey wool from Estonia, and a nice pattern. I was using different yarn, but I guessed it would work out.
But it didn't. It is far too small, actually, and quite boring to knit.
So now it will be frogged. I do believe I can have the same kind of idea using the same yarn again, since it IS a good idea! The next project, though, will be in soft wool. For me.

23
The next pair of socks is done, and so now I just need to knit another 3 pairs this year to reach my goal of 26 pairs!
These are for my brother. I just love the colors and the stripes, although nothing was planned with them. I actually couldn't find any yarn in the right color in my stash, so I started out with my 3 skeins of Froehlich yarn and put some left-over Zauberball on top, and it really ended out well! Froehlich yarn is so nice to knit with (and I discovered it can be bought at Sommerfuglen!) and I just love the colors!
I used size 2.5 mm needles, and they weigh 80 grams. I hope he will like them.

Hastighed / Speed
The third and last Viggo-sweater is on the way. This time, it is a lot slower, but the first sleeve is finally done. It will be really pretty and nice, and I do look forward to the day when all 3 kids can wear their sweaters - at the same time! (They will have to grow a bit first. But I guess that comes naturally!)
When my siblings "only" had 6 kids in total, I knit identical cardigans for them. And now I'm rather impressed by my earlier self..... I'm not planning on doing it again.

Forbedringer / Improvements
The Minnie-hat was well received, although it was balancing high on the head. When we took a walk, it fell off like 4-5 times, so although she loved it and everything, we agreed that it would be much better if it could just stay on the head.
So now it got ear-flaps! Definitely not part of the pattern, but as long as they work.......

Opskriften er denne her.
After a couple of warm weeks, it really has become fall weather here in Denmark. Quite cold, and enough wind to let quite a lot of trees let go of their leaves.
So - today's pattern is for teeny tiny crochet leaves for earrings.
Actually, I should make some for myself..... The pattern is this one.

Tilbage til 70'erne / Back to the 70'es
Sidste weekend startede hele 5 fridage i træk.
Last weekend came with a total of 5 days off in a row. It had been a hard, very long week at work, so I needed something COMPLETELY different to do. I felt like sewing one of those quilted jackets, that were hot when I was a kid, to little D, so I took this book out. The original was from 1977, and mine is a reprint from 2008. A real classic!
I don't suffer from a lack of fabric, so I just looked in the closet and found the pretty panda-fabric and some lining. I also had wadding.
As I said - I needed a sewing challenge, so of course I needed to quilt it before I could start the real sewing!
So on Sunday, I cut and quilted. I didn't follow the pattern completely, and cut lining in the exact same size as the outer layer. It did work out, although I think I'll follow the pattern better next time!
The sleeves should have bias tape on the seem AFTER they had been sewed. What a challenge! And I didn't even make the smallest size......
The little jacket really needed lots of bias tape - almost 5 meters! The buttons are from my button box. They look good, and I hope they won't become weird when washed. (You never know with metal)
Maybe it wasn't completely like the 70'es, since it didn't have corduroy, and no fun made-up patchwork stuff. It is also not completely perfect, but as I said - next time, I'll be better prepared!
She got it at her birthday celebration yesterday, and it fits quite well. Although her arms are a bit short, and she almost couldn't move them in all this fabric.
I'm so happy with it, and it would be fun to sew a bit more. I loved keeping my brain busy with something different than work!

Minnie Mouse!
Well, so then I got my debut in Japanese knitting patterns. It's not a lack of the patterns, but I haven't plunged into them deep before.
I was going to make this one, because Minnie Mouse is THE cutest Disney-princess. Apparently!
Everything went well. I cast on the correct number of stitches and knit like the pattern showed. Apart from making the hat a bit longer, since it looked like it would only balance on top of the head, and I prefer hats that stay put.
The bow was really pretty!
The ears needed some fill, and it was an old plastic cut-board that was sacrificed. Because plastic can survive a wash.
So this is the finished hat! The bow got sewn to hat and ears in the sides, to help it stay there.
I used Wollmeise DK and size 4 mm needles, and I do think it succeeded quite well. It weighs 80 grams (without the plastic).
I hope it looks better on the recipient than on me........

Gode bøger / Great books
I started reading the first "Department Q" book after reading "Journal 64". I read it so fast! So by now, I started the second book in the series as well.
You have probably read it. Or watched it. Or heard about it.
I heard that the movie is really scary, but I guess I'll have to watch it some time.
Did you read all his books, you people out there?

Disney!
When I had a guest, we found all my Disney knitting patterns. (I have 2 more booklets! Don't know where they hid themselves. I searched and searched!) I just love looking at patterns, and it was fun after I found something the child wanted to look at. It is also fun to see the differences in the American, European and Asian patterns!
The 4 year old LOVES Minnie Mouse. So I cast on for a hat for her. Immediately, she asked if I would knit one for her friend too? When I didn't sound too happy, she said "But he is my boyfriend!" (Great argument, but......)
Afterwards, she was convinced that I promised to knit her a Minnie sweater. Not just a hat. She is by no means stupid, this girl!

Besøg / Visit
I går kom lille Frk.
Yesterday, little Miss Rabbit and her owner, T1, is visiting. The 4-year-old often asks to visit me, but it is a bit difficult when I don't have that many days off.
But now we succeeded! Miss Rabbit helped making the coffee, and afterwards, a few toddlers at the playground lost their hearts to the cute bunny (who really IS so soft!), much to the owners worry.
Yesterday wasn't a day where we needed a lot of activities. We went to see the "waterfall" by the library, and although she thought she wouldn't dare, she went under it anyway. And loved it so much that both sleeves and feet got quite wet.
Afterwards, we had clearly reached the maximum for what she could cope with, so we ended up with pizza and cartoons at home. She was asleep by 8 pm, so I do hope she is super rested and fit today, when we are going to see Halloween in Tivoli. (With WITCHES! Yikes!)
I just love that we got around planning a visit, in the middle of all other plans.

Snart Halloween / Halloween soon
Mønsteret finder du her.
Halloween is coming up!
So today's pattern is a group of small, knitted ghosts.
I'm not sure if the witch with the cat glow in the dark - could be really cool, right? They are definitely very cute!
The pattern is right here.

This weekend, we have church-camp. In Hillerød, the city were I went to school. Although I never lived there, I have so many memories from this town, and especially from the area around the castle and the castle garden. I sang in the castle church a lot of times - for weddings and baptism. And I had my confirmation in the castle church. The big hill in the garden was the place were we got to go sleigh riding if there was a lot of snow, and as teenagers, we ran, panting and sweating, around the lake while the ducks quacked. (Sounded like they were laughing. While I felt like I was dying.)
I had time to go for a walk through the gardens and castle - my favorite castle in the whole world! It was incredibly beautiful with all the fall colors, and yet warm and sunny. Such a beautiful day.

Pinligt / Embarrassing
This Wednesday, I rode my bike to the station, and when I was climbing off my bike, I didn't lift my foot enough. So I fell over. One of those totally unreasonable, slow, really annoying falls!
I made a hole in my pants. My new pants from Gap! So now I'm seriously considering crocheting some small, pretty patch to sew on. Just because it's so stupid...... Do you know the feeling?

22
(Faktisk mere end 2 uger for tidligt!
The next nephew's birthday is approaching, and his socks are done! (Actually, I'm more than 2 weeks early! Am very proud of myself.....)
This time, they are with a pattern, and then really not. Not an official pattern, at least, but I read this post and thought, that those were nice socks that I might as well make......
Then I cast on 72 stitches and did knit 6, purl 6. I made 25 rounds before changing the pattern. Seemed like it fit.
Garnet er Opal. Fint stribet!
The yarn is Opal. Nicely colored! This was about the last unused skein of sock yarn in male colors in my stash. (Which is a nice excuse to check out the wollmeise webpage soon, I guess!) The pattern looks really nice when the sock is stretched a bit.
They weigh a total of 70 grams and are knitted using size 2.5 mm needles.

For længe siden / A long time ago
When I was a kid, we also had a sock-knitter in the family - my father's aunt, who didn't have kids herself, and who became everybody´s "Moster" (maternal aunt).
She just kept knitting socks for all of us, and we just loved them. It is quite obvious on this photo! A younger me in open shoes, summer dress and - well - knitted socks. With blue and white stripes. Exactly as I ordered them. (Actually, I do think me dear sister is WITHOUT knitted socks in this photo. Wise decision.)
My oldest brother's birthday is coming up. He told me quite nicely that he would really love to have knitted socks. Since those he got from our "Moster" were worn out. Since it is more than 25 years since she passed away, he must have taken very good care of them, and since he is asking so nicely, I guess he will get to be in the sock-recipient stack!
