The second pair of socks this year are done. They are COOL!!!!!!
Little L turns 3 years, and I really thought he should not get boring socks now that his favorite cousin in the entire world got the owl ones, so I took a good look in the really great book and picked these with tractors!
The yarn is from one of my sock yarn boxes. (Yes. I have more than one. Might as well admit it!)
The green is rather green, but I hope it's fine. His feet will definitely not get lost!
The colors just had to be yellow, green and black.
I used size 2.5 mm needles. As usual. They weigh 40 grams, the socks, and I do hope he will like them! His big sister's birthday is coming up, so I guess I need to check the book again......

Viden og følelser / Knowledge and feelings
It IS going well. But man, how BORING it is to start knitting a yoke! It feels never-ending, although I know that I'm actually almost done. The last bit of the yoke will be really fast to knit compared to the rest of it.
And then the sweater takes a lot of space when I'll bring it on the train in order to get done.
But it will be so beautiful!!!!! Can't wait to get it done......

Januar er så mørk / January is so dark
January really went by fast this year! I am not quite sure why, but I don't care. January and November are such depressive months, if you ask me.
In February, it starts lightening up. It is so lovely when you can start seeing the sunrise when crossing the Øresund bridge, and really great when it't not ALL dark when going home. (If you don't stay and work too late, you know.....)
This photo is kind of cheating, though - it's from the Little Belt Bridge - but still pretty. Oh, I can't wait to have spring!

Pikachu's hale / Pikachu's tail
Everybody knows Pokémon, right?
Almost everyone must know Pikachu, the little yellow electric guy.
Today's pattern is a scarf as Pikachu's tail.
I guess you need to know what it is in order to really appreciate it, but the idea is fun!

This last week, there hasn't been a lot of knitting time at home, so although I've started the yoke, I'm not quite sure if the sweater will be done in January, which (as you know) ends on Friday.
I guess it doesn't really matter if it will get done one of the first days in February. It's just so annoying when it wasn't the plan.
Anyway - it's growing, and I guess that's good!

Tak for alt, kære Hanne.
When I started working in cystic fibrosis, Hanne Tybkjær was the secretary in the Danish CF foundation. She was a bundle of energy and had everything under control. She was caring and attentive - and quite tough. (Sometimes, I was actually a little afraid....)
For my Ph.D. defense, she had this pillow with the logo, which she really liked. It is the only picture I can find of her.
A bit more than a year ago, her son (who had CF) was buried. Today, dear Hanne will be buried next to her son. I'm so grateful I can go to the funeral, but oh how sad it is. Thank you for everything, dear Hanne.

My old shoes were really worn out, and I needed new ones. When I bought these, I had been told a few days before that another of my colleagues is moving to Iceland.
Then I thought that I might as well buy these really nice shoes instead of picking some less eye catching shoes. Since - you know - what does it even help buying nice, boring, neutral shoes when all your best colleagues move so far away?
So now I can at least look down at my feet and get happy!

Snart!
I continued knitting on the sweater when I've been at home in the evening. It worked! By now, the body is so long that I need to prepare for the yoke very soon.
It's going to be great. And difficult. It's always hard suddenly having this many stitches on the needles, but then it will become fewer and fewer. I just can't WAIT to get done! Soon!

It is a year ago I signed the contract for my house. A crazy big day! I saw the house in December and moved in in May, so I'm still on my first months, you know.
These past few weeks I've been noticing something when coming home in the evening, going out to empty the post box. I've been looking at it in the light from my lamp, but I just loved seeing them in daylight this weekend!
By the stump of the beech, I found not only snowdrops, but even eranthis! The yellow flowers grow in several places, and I'm SO happy I didn't get the stump milled this fall, because how would I then ever have seen the flowers? Now I'll definitely move them before milling any stump. That is certain!
Incredible, how a garden can make you happy in so many ways......

Vinterhavenisser / Wintergardengnomes
Opskriften er her.
It's winter. On the paper, at least.
Out in the real life, there are not many garden gnomes right now. Maybe it's just too sad and dark? Maybe they went on vacation?
Today's pattern is for cute mittens that looks like garden gnomes. The pattern is here. Just scroll down the page and find the free pattern. Don't worry about the price at the top.

Håber stadig den bliver færdig her i januar!
I wish I had worked my way all the way up to the sleeves during my two days meeting, but I didn't.
The body measures almost 30 cm, so I got far!
The mosaic knitting pattern really pulls it a bit together, and although I measured the gauge on the sleeves and calculated and all, it still measures a bit less than I thought. Not dangerously less, though. I do hope it will help washing it after it's done. I still hope to finish it in January!

Må jeg præsentere: Årets første færdige projekt! Det føles virkelig godt.......
Det er selvfølgelig strømper. Hvad ellers? I Wollmeise!
Let me introduce: This years first finished project! It feels really good.....
Of course it's socks. What else? In Wollmeise! The perfect way to start a year. The pattern is this one. I messed up the yarn a bit, since I think the dark blue is actually lace yarn, but it turned out fine anyway.
They are for my nephew in the US. He was supposed to get them by Christmas. So he didn't. Now he will get them once the sweater is done. They weigh 125 grams and I used size 2.5 mm needles.

Klar til møde / Ready for a meeting
It does take a lot longer to knit a rib edge on a body with 5 times the stitches compared to what the sleeve had. But now it's almost done.
I have a meeting all day. I do hope I get a lot of stripes done, since I've made it to a point where it's SO boring. Doesn't all projects have a point like that? I think mine has, anyway!

Årets første garn / First yarn this year
In the beginning of December, my niece asked me for some stuff for a song-suitcase (a small suitcase with crochet figures from child-songs). An elephant and a sheep and maybe some monkeys.
This weekend, I got around thinking about it and discovered that I don't have grey cotton yarn. Because elephants need to be grey, right? Fortunately, I found grey yarn in the discount supermarket. AND a pattern book with a cute elephant. So now I just need to get started.....

Prioritizing and spending some evenings at home helped, and I actually finished the second sleeve for my nephew's sweater. I'm really happy about that. I just need to make one more part.
It will take forever with all the pattern, and because I knit with double thread so I have to check all the time not to loose one thread, but still.
I would love to knit a sweater in less than a month. It would really kick-start this year, right?

Lidt sne kunne være rart / A bit of snow would be nice
Gad godt have en lille smule sne.
It's winder. Plenty of stuff falls from the sky, but unfortunately, it's neither frozen, nor white, and it doesn't light up anything.
I would like just a bit of snow.
Just because it's so pretty! Of course I right away start thinking of my tiny bit of pavement and how it must be cleared and salted and everything, and how very annoying it would be, but still......
The pattern for this clearly mistaken, octagon snowflake, can be found here.

En dag med tøserne / A day with the girls
So the Saturday quickly passed! Frozen 2 was really good, and it's always so nice watching a movie with a child on the lap, since it was a bit scary in places.
Afterwards, I went home with them, and a lot of the time, it looked more or less like this. It was SO nice, and I even went for a little walk with the 5 year old. It cost a lollipop, and I had to carry her bike home to give her time to eat the lollipop before her little sister woke up (we didn't quite make it), but I guess it's cheap for some fresh air!
So today I just want to be at home a little before the week starts again. You need that.

Olaf!
Med hende her. For at se Frost 2.
One of my Christmas presents was a trip to the movies. With this girl. To watch Frozen 2.
So today we're doing it! I can't wait, because I love Olaf, the stupid, happy snowman.
Although I can't knit in there.....
Happy Saturday everyone!

Mere vævestrik / More mosaic knitting
Desuden ser alt bare vildt godt ud i Wollmeise.....
When I knit extra socks for Christmas for my niece and nephew, of course I didn't forget their big brother. I just didn't get around knitting any more socks that week......
But now I started! You shouldn't treat them differently, right?
I picked the same pattern as I used in October for his cousin. It looks nice, I think, and it's so easy how the rest of the sock is stocking stitch after the pattern. Furthermore, everything just looks so good in Wollmeise.....

Mix
The sweater for my nephew - one sleeve is done, and the pattern is really a mix of the two patterns.
But I do think it looks nice with the entire sleeve in mosaic knitting and the top band with both colors.
The second sleeve is well on the way and I've actually started the body as well. As if it will get done quicker if I just knit everything at once. Or something. I guess that's logic?

Min nevøs sweater / My nephews sweater
I really got the sweater for my 20 year old nephew started. He chose a combination of 2 different patterns, after he very nicely sat and looked through a pile of books. I'm actually quite impressed. Not only did he actually do it, but he also has a great taste in patterns.

Et nyt år kræver musik / A new year calls for music
A new year is wonderful! Really fresh and crispy, not spots or wrinkles.
A new year needs calls for something extraordinary, and it could be an idea to crochet this music afghan.
A square each month, and then suddenly you have a blanket when the year has gone by. Really clever, right?

Farvel, lille fyr / Good-bye, little guy
The little fighter moved away from home. He moved to my brother and immediately saw his chance to leave the cage and claim the living room.
The bird is curious and happy, and I'm quite certain it will be good. The left-over birds here at home definitely are a lot calmer now......

Regnvejr / Rain
God weekend!
And so it's Saturday already! It's perfect landing on Sunday with jetlag, working Monday, having Tuesday and Wednesday off, work Thursday-Friday, and then it's weekend! It wouldn't be bad at all if a work week was always this short.....
This morning started in Lund, after work. It continued on the train which only went as far as the airport and ended with a taxi. I rarely take a taxi, but when I do? Oh, it's just so right! I really enjoyed it with all the rain, and I wanted to get home to have breakfast.
So here I sit - with my morning coffee and blog, letting the Saturday feeling settle down inside, looking out at the rain. Not bad.
Have a nice weekend!

Ikke strømper / Not socks
I've finally "really" started the sleeve for the sweater for my college-nephew. Quite some time ago he looked at patterns and asked for a combination of 2 patterns. I bought Arwetta in the colors he liked, and during my days off, I knit almost a sleeve. It's really clever starting with a sleeve, making it possible to check gauge before the body is started. For instance, I do think I need to continue with more increases than the pattern says, and so I need to start calculating.....

Krise / Crisis
You discover stuff when you are finally at home for a few days. My 3 budgerigars were apparently not as great pals that I thought. I read how only the females fight for their territory, so I thought 2 males in the same cage wouldn't be a problem.
Well - I had observed how they kept a close eye on each other and sounded very angry, but then on New Years Eve's day I saw how they fought. For real. When I saw the ball of angry beaks and claws on the floor of the cage for the third time within an hour, I made up my mind that this was probably no phase. So "Lime" ended up in his own little cage and is currently waiting to move to my brother's place for a loving home. The other 2 have a nice time and seem more relaxed now that he is gone.
I'm left to wonder about how long they have been fighting like that......
