Yesterday, I had a meeting in Stockholm all day. Region Skåne has a policy about employees avoiding flying inside Sweden. So that's why I for the first time went on the night train!
On Thursday, I came home from work, had dinner, and then I went to Malmö again and jumped on this beautiful train.
After having read, heard and watched "The murder on the Orient express", I was a bit nervous.....
So I locked the door and sat down in my quite cozy teeny tiny train compartment.
There was even a tiny toilet and the possibility to take a shower. In a room smaller than a Copenhagen closet-bathroom. (They can be really tiny in old compartments!)
The bed was actually okay, and apart from having to get used to all the movements and sounds and the fact that there wasn't enough time for an entire nights sleep, it wasn't bad at all.
Temmelig trist udsigt.
So on Friday morning, we rolled to the platform in Stockholm. Rather dull view.
Included in the first class ticket (which actually isn't THAT expensive. Check sj.se and order you ticket ahead!) is breakfast at hotel Scandic. The sunrise on the way to the hotel was so pretty!
Breakfast was fine, but since I'm the kind of person who ate oatmeal every morning for the past 30 years, I'm pretty ungrateful to serve stuff like that......
I also had time to take a VERY long walk round the town before the meeting. The weather was beautiful and all tourists were sleeping, so there was plenty of space in the narrow streets.
When I thought I'd walked long enough, I was still far too early for the meeting. But then I got to read about the pediatric department in Gothenborg 100 years ago, while waiting in the pretty rooms of the Läkarsällskapet.
