Swoosh
Derfor kommer her lidt flere præmier - 4 ekstra.
We have more than 1700 hats by now, and I know that 1800 is just around the corner. So here are a few more prizes - 4 extra. 1 skein of Jawoll Magic in orangy-red, yellow and green, 1 skein of Cherry Tree Hill, 100% merino (some kind of sock yarn), 2 skeins of Cascade 220 Heather in dark red, and 1 skein of Wollmeise 100% merino of the colour "Magnolia dark". Isn't it just exicting how this thing just grows?

1392!!!!!
Endnu flere præmier! / Even more prizes!
I have a few more prizes for the hat-contest.
The first prize was a total surprise and came with a bag of hats from Helle. The prettiest of pretty stitchmarkers made with nice, heavy glass beads and a small bonus-owl.
If you think they look nice in the picture, I can assure you they are much more pretty "live". Thank you so much, Helle!

Hvad? / What?
As I mentioned I went to Aarhus for a course. I have been joining most of the other participants several times, and they are quite happy to see me knitting like crazy most of the time.
They ask about earlier projects, which is very nice, but this time they were a bit confused.
Because of this project - what on earth will it become? (Even I have my doubts!)
The pattern is "Rundstykke" from Geilsk. For me. Sneaked in while I'm knitting all the stuff for nephews and nieces, just because of this course (which is no good for my sister in law's shawl).
It is no fast job, though. Right now I'm at level "endless rows with only knit or purl". And even though I was knitting for 2½ days, I only finished less than 2 skeins of wool (50 grams each). This project will last forever!

Hue nr 1000!
Do you ride a bike? Do you knit? (Hopefully not at the same time!) Do you think the streets needs something fun?
Then this might be an idea.
A knitted lock for you bike! (Or crocheted. You decide)
It might even work?
Any way - it will be perfekt as street-art.

Flere huer..... / More hats....
lørdag den 19. marts 2011
Fartstriber / Speedlines
This is a pair of socks that almost knit themselves..... And that is (almost) without exaggerating (a lot)!
They were made from sock yarn bought in a discount supermarket. Weird yarn. Goes from thread-like to dreadlocks and back in a short length, and I had to do some cutting to make it even.
With that said, I am very satisfied with the results. The stripes were fun to make, and made the work go fast, although I had to be creative to make the turquoise go all the way.
The socks are warm, soft and have a good size. They are made for my 14 years old niece, who (strategically) wants knitted socks as her knitted thing this year, and it is the first pair of - I guess - 5 pairs. (She knows very well how difficult it is to make me knit socks!)

2 uger tilbage / 2 weeks left
Men - husk!
Now there are only 2 weeks left before finding the winners in my contest! As you see, 748 hats take up som space. Actually, I need to press them down to have room for more hats in the box...
To keep the contest fun and the hats coming, there will be more prizes.
For every 100 hats above the 1000, there will be an extra yarn-prize to win (taken from the "Never-ending Stash") What to win will be announced as the number of hats increases.
Remember - the hats need to be in my home by the 1st of april to be part of the contest!
To receive my adress: mail me at christunte @ yahoo.com

Marts / March
My March-project is coming along. My sister-in-law took her place in the row of nieces and nephews, although she doesn't really belong. But she had asked for a knitted shawl for her 25 years anniversary (silver-wedding) this summer. The conditions? It must be black, and it must not contain wool....
In September I had the pleasure of visting "Ho Strik" with some friends, and the owner advised me to buy thin cotton and thin silk and knit them together.
Great advice! Both yarns are very thin and knit together the shawl turns out so soft and flexible that the result is bound to be good.
The pattern is "Swan Shawl" from the book "Sock Yarn - One-skein Wonders" - a book that you have to buy if you love sock yarn....
The shawl will be beautiful, warm and soft. Need I say more? I think that fulfills any dream of any handknit shawl ever!

HA! Som om.)
My pink socks with heart-pattern are slowly growing. The pattern is fun, but I need to pay attention and look at the work, since all the twisted stitches don't necessarily behave like intented if I'm not concentrating.....
The system in the pattern seem to be slowly appearing - well, in my head, that is (I guess the pattern knew the system all along?) - and now that they turn out really pretty, I can't wait to finish them.
(My pleasure also increased when another person generously offered to wear the socks.... HA! As if.)

Super Mario!
Opskriften/konstruktinoen er ihvertfald her. Oldemorfirkanter kan du f.eks. læse om her.
Today's news are old news. I'm sorry, but - anyhow.....
I want to show you the amazing blanket which inspired me to start my Link blanket.
Well.... I just think this blanket is a stroke of genius! (Come on now - - - - - - you must know someone who would love to have a blanket like this!)
The pattern/construction can be found here. You can read about granny squares here, for instance.

Småting / Bits
Vestene er "Baby i rib", strikket i Rasmilla´s luksusgarn. Uhm.... Luksus!
After knitting the everlasting "Pletskud" sweater for my nephew, I really needed something that knit up quickly... And so I proudly present 3 finished objects size baby!
The vests are in a pattern called "Baby i rib", made in Rasmilla's "luksusgarn" - silk and wool. Delicious! I made the vests in size 0-3 months and 3-6 months, respectively, an inch longer than the pattern. Both were supposed to go to a Christmas Market in November, but then I couldn't help myself but promised my (very) pregnant colleague she could have the red and brown one...
In total I used 49 grams of yarn for both.
The socks will go to the market too. Made from the leftovers of my home-dyed socks for me, and knit in 2x2 ribbing. Very quickly and nice project in bright colours! 31 grams of yarn for the socks.
Well. Then I'd better get started on the "official" March project.....

1 %
The big, crocheted blanket has startet. As you can see, I am too lazy to sew 630 squares together, so some of the squares will be 4 times the size of the small squares, depending on the pattern.
It looks like it will turn out excellent.... I use double yarn, and (of course) start with the squares I have the colours for. And then I will wait for the package from garnudsalg.dk containing the remaining colours. (Couldn't possibly be a long wait...)
Right now? Well - I have to go outside and enjoy that SPRING IS HERE TODAY!!!!!! (So far)

Lidt luksus / A bit of luxury
Going to school I often sewed pencilcases during my crafts lessons. I had many different pencilcases living in my bag - one of the most noteworthy was made by fur from a seal and lastet a few years until the fur fell off. My present "old" pencilcase is at least 25 years old, and during the last year or so it has been really pathetic. Filled with holes. Ugly. Broken zipper. I needed a new!
The new pencilcase just finished. Knitted in a way to look like woven fabric, using a pattern from a magazine. I used 28 grams of Noro "Silk Garden Sock" - pure luxury for a pencilcase!
I sewed in the zipper and lining (with little hearts) by hand. Very pretty.... Hopefully lasting for the next 25 years!

Store planer / Huge plans
I tæppestørrelse.
My oldest nephew asked for a knitted Moose's head as his knitted thing this year. I said NO!
Well. But this weekend I had an idea. To shorten a very long story, I discovered this concept on Ravelry - extremely nice, if you ask me! - my thoughts kept wandering, and I ended up with this picture. Good old Link from "Legend of Zelda", back in the days of 8 bits. (Whatever that means)
Can you see it? Crocheted Granny squares combined to form that picture? Big as a blanket? It will be retro-cool the nerdy way! The nephew accepted instantly, and I think that even his fiancé is going to like a nice blanket in lovely colours. Especially when made in Blackhill wool.
I just have to crochet approximately 600 squares....

5 år / 5 years
This post will be about being 5 years old. In several ways! First about my mittens. Last year in December, I receive an unexpected, wonderful gift from Frida. Yarn and pattern for beautiful, Icelandic mittens! I started knitting quite fast, actually, but then I stopped and the mittens slept for 2 months. But sunday evening I decided to finish them. NOW! So - monday morning I wore my new gloves cycling to work. Are they pretty or what! Actually, I wanted to wear them all day at work, if I could (I am very thankful to be working at a pediatrics department) Off they came, though, but I was happy once more to find them in my closet after work, and wear them on the way home.
THANK YOU, Frida! 52 grams of pretty warmth. Can't be better!
Then another 5 year old. My nephew received his sweater on saturday.
He knew before I came, that I would bring the sweater, so when I entered the house, he was calling my name from the living room, and when I found him, he was sitting in his undershirt - ready to put on the new sweater.
Was he happy? Well, he made me promise to knit him another sweater, should this sweater somehow be broken.

Rædsel! / Terror!
Uha......
I dag kan dette strubeflænsende monster blive dit! Du finder opskriften her. God fornøjelse - hvis du tør!
If you get scared easily, you might want to skip this post....
I never watched Monty Python and The Holy Grail. But I did hear about todays guest: THE KILLER RABBIT!
Oh my.....
Today this horrible monster can come live with you! You find the pattern here. Happy knitting - or, should I say "Scary knitting"!

Ikke bare drager / Not only dragons
The dragon-sweater didn't last for an entire course... I knit something else too - something that didn't really need a lot of brain activity or eye contact. A pair of socks!
The yarn is Knitpicks Sock yarn blanket, and I dyed it when my niece visited me. Fun colours and cool socks that I am looking forward to using....
The only problem? Knitpicks only mails to USA, and I live in Denmark. But next time I visit America, I'm going to stash lots and lots of blankets!

Hvad tænker de? / What are they thinking?
Hver gang! Så jeg kan bare sige TAK! Bliv endelig ved....
Right now I would love to know what is on my post man's mind.... On Thursday I came home and found 2 letters with more than 30 hats in total. Last night my neighbour came in with 2 packages with hats, and today I found 1 letter in my postbox and picked up 1 letter at the post office.
As you can see, the hats are now in a bigger box. The picture is actually outdated already, even though I took the photo this morning, when there were 419 hats. Now I have 452.
But I just LOVE every time I open a letter to see the hats. Every. Single. Time.
What can I say? THANK YOU! Keep knitting....

Kursus / Course
Lidt fakta? Opskriften er her.
I have just had the pleasure of a 3 days course. I had big plans. Plans for knitting!
It went really well - my "February" project for my youngest nephew knit up really fast and finished during the course. It has been a lot of fun to make this - a bit of Fair Isle, but not too much, and then just knit-knit-knit in one colour the rest of the sweater.
I have to admit, though, knitting with 2 colours is not really good planning for a course. You have to watch the knitting, right?
It wasn't really great planning either when I asked the psychologist-course-teacher about the "knitter-role" of a group. He wasn't really overflowing with words like "openness" and "participation". On the other hand - he had never been teaching someone knitting before in his life. My fellow students didn't mind much, though, and a few asked to bring home the sweater for their own kids.. But - oh no! - this is for my nephew!
A few facts? The pattern is this one. I made it in cotton and acrylics, and it was a bit weird - the gauge was different, and not only did I have to use smaller needles, but also go down one size. I used 270 grams of yarn.
Last night was my night "off" during the course. I had been planning to join the knitting café at "Bettedesign", but then I really needed to do nothing.... Too bad....

Ultra-light
Like so many others I plan on going to the Fanø Knitting Festival this year. I went 2 years ago, and had a really nice time. A lot of hand-knitted items in just one place!
It was rather busy, though. Workshops all day and not really much time to socialize with the 2 friends I stayed with. So - this year we plan the "light" version. Only one day with workshops, and time to enjoy each other´s company, visiting "Ho Strik" and to sit on the balcony in my friend's new house, staring out over the North Sea. I really look forward to this!
The only problems are with the webpage - booking is strangely enough not possible, and there are only a few seats left on the workshop I would like to join. So maybe it will be the "Ultralight" festival without workshop? (Or maybe I will just learn something else....)

Må man det? / Can I do this?
I bought a membership in the sock club by Alice. You pay some money, and you get some really one-of-a-kind sock yarn and lovely patterns that no-one ever knit from before.
The first skein of yarn arrived in January. And - WOW - this is exceptional! Sock yarn with a good deal of cashmere, and even hand-dyed in some of the colours that I really, really like....
The accompanying pattern is for socks knit on the bias. Really interesting technique and lovely socks with fine details.
So - what is the problem? Well, I just think the yarn is too wonderful for the pattern. I want to stash it and dream and plan, not just knit socks on the bias. I do want to knit the socks, but I want to use Wollmeise instead.
Can I really do that? Knit a sock-club pattern in un-authorized yarn? It is my yarn, I know that, but anyway..... It is not really the intention of joining a sock club, is it?
